ARM architecture isn't new and doesn't automatically make it safe. The vulnerability is MacOS on ARM is new so buggy that it'll be target of vulnerability attacks.
Correct, the information here is that it took 3 months to develop a vulnerability since available for public purchase.

meanwhile people already screaming for Apple to open it all up and let devs go wild
The best way to make something such as software secure is to open it up, such that a community can identify, report and fix the vulnerability. macOS is built on FreeBSD lite which is open source code and with the support of the open source community we have come along way. Compare this to Windows.

Apple clearly sees the value in it hence it has a bug bounty.

I was speaking in a general sense and not about any specific member.
Correct, however most if not everyone has come to terms that if using a device that depends on updated software such as a smartphone, tablet, computer, electric car (some hybrid and ICE cars too) will present some vulnerabilities if someone has taken a keen sense to exploits.

They're not collecting bounties for this. Maybe for something that actually involves discovering new vulnerabilities.

Well, you know something is well-adopted when there's even malware made for it!
Most likely for community bragging rights. Sometimes these types of exploits either created or found leads to employment opportunities. It’s not all for nothing.

Just because they've been 'recompiled' to 'run natively' doesn't mean they'll ever get a chance to. There are lots of things stopping the malware getting onto the system in the first place.

All they've done is made it a native app. Big deal.

Some BS article. This is adware, not malware, not a virus. This is a deliberately installed extension that runs within Apple's sandbox yet its primary purpose it serving more advertisements on websites.

Headline should read, 'Safari extensions recompiled for M1 macs!"
What are you talking about? The article correctly addresses what this is... generally and specifically. Generally speaking, it is malware so the headline reads correctly. Specifically, it's adware (a type of malware) and that's exactly what the article calls it. The word "virus" was never mentioned in the article.
