I feel exactly the same about the console ports. They've really gimped some great games, because of the game pad's limitations. To be a broken record, this is really why I like the Wii. It's quite similar to a mouse when aiming (when set up properly), but a little bit more natural, since the Wiimote holds kind of like a gun. My arm got tired at first though. 🙂
I bought Halo for my PC and it ran like utter crap and looked quite poorly compared to other games at the time, like Doom 3. And of course Halo PC was 10 fold easier on the hardest level than when playing it on a Xbox, since I could quickly shoot where I needed. So needless to say, Halo 2 is on my never buy for PC list.
Center aiming is king. 🙂 The Wii has its own thing going, which I've gotten used to for games like RE4 and Zelda, but I still prefer true first person fixed center. This behind the person trend is fun and has its place, but it can get in the way. I just hope it doesn't take over FPS games, kind of like how flight-simulators have been made more an more arcade like over the years, because of games like Rogue Squadron. I prefer being in a virtual cockpit, not being pulled behind like a kite.
I'll be downloading the demo and hoping it works on my current couple-of-year-old-DX9-level neglected main PC. 😱 At least I know MP3 will work. 🙂
