"First new post" now actual first unread

Is this right? I'm seeing tonight that the "Go to first new post" buttons are actually taking me to the first new post that I haven't read in that thread? Because it used to take me to the first new post since I went on the site that moment. Which was kinda pointless and random.

Yes, that's correct. We made the change about three months ago.
