the first pics taken with the 5mp camera on the iPhone 4. the pics are way to big to attach to this thread but you can find the original 6 images Here

So what do you think? Is the quality ok for a 5Mp camera or could it be better?

They look noisy, but still quite good. Even if those shots were taken with the iPhone, they were still taken by a pro who knows how to make the best of the light source, shadows, etc...

Let's wait for amateur shots and I'd like to see a comparison with the Nokia N95 8GB with it's 5MP camera.

Looks good. And it doesn't take a pro to shoot properly exposed pictures, just have a steady hand and do not shoot at noon nor against the sun.

Wow, I guess I don't need to get a digital camera. The iPhone 4 will be more then enough for point and shoot :)

Steve claimed the photos weren't retouched. The one with the man with sunglasses has been edited: the rayban logo has been (sloppily) smeared out.

I'm Pretty sure that he means they haven't been enhanced in any way.. Smearing a logo you don't want to give free advertising for has no bearing on the quality of the image.

All camera[phone]s look good with that much lighting. I want to see some low-light shots, and whether the flash makes the pic worth anything, or just visible.

Pffff! thats nothing look at the noise on this picture taken with my 3G.

It shows Dora and kitten Pepper at 1 week old, the noise was "Meeeow Meoww" from Dora and "Squeek!" from Pepper.

Why oh why would I need a new iPhone?

Then he should have said (not) enhanced. Not touched. They have been touched.

These are pictures that were taken right off the iPhone, they haven't been touched in any way

Again these are completely unretouched

Which lense?

Lense nearest to you, the wearers left. Image Link

I just looked at the full sized samples. Noisy images but great for a phone camera. I'm glad they kept the MP count reasonable.
