is it a bad idea to buy a Mac right after it comes out? I know the revisions on the new mbp are minor but I want a trouble free experience.

If I should wait, then how long?
 
You'll be fine. We only seem to have problem with revision 1(A) products. This is like revision 7, so you'll be fine.
