I've only been on this site for about five minutes, so excuse me if this is posted in the wrong pace, but I could use some advice.

About three weeks ago my six year old Vaio laptop died, and since then I've been trying to decide on my next buy. At the moment I' m leaning towards the middle model 2015 MBP, and was wondering if I should consider bumping up the ram from 8 to 16. I'm a photoshop user, but nothing too intense, just a bit of editing that usually stays below six or seven layers.

I was also looking at this Asus as an option : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-ze...1313266435.p?id=mp1313266435&skuId=1313266435

Any opinions/advice would be much appreciated.

I can't comment on the Asus other than to say do a little research and go with your gut. If you decide to go for a MBP then I would suggest that for light photoshop editing 8GB will do you fine, but if you're planning to keep this laptop for at least 5 yrs, I'd go for the 16GB; standard on all 15" models, and a $200 upgrade on all 13" rMBPs.

For the simple reason your requirements may change in the future and you can't upgrade the memory later.
