Hi,

Is it possible to use the iPod touch and indeed any other new iPods as a mass storage device, which will operate as a normal external hard drive on any machine (Mac, Windows, Linux, etc).

Sorry dude, but no. The device binds to one computer and one iTunes Account. It is an interesting idea however.

Many thanks for your help.

Wrong forum I know, but does the iPod nano function as a mass storage device? (16gb)?

I can confirm androiphone's statement. Both my nanos (see sig) have "disk usage" enabled, and can be seen as removable USB drives. This function is disabled by default when first attached, though.
