Yesterday I picked up my very first mac that I'd been saving for since october :D

I want to know how to set it up so it requires a password on start up. I'm the only user on the account, I'm admin and I did look up already how to do it. However, I couldn't follow the steps I found because for some reason in my system preferences > security all options other than "require password" are blanked out.

I supplied a print screen. Can some one please explain why this would be so if I'm the admin?

I've made the same idiot mistake, you need to click the little lock at the bottom left in order to save the changes... :D

I don't think you need to click on the lock to save the changes, only to have access to all the options or to lock out access to prevent someone else from messing with your preferences.
