First time smartphone owner, any must-have apps?

The only advantage I can think of is you can play them with the default videos app which crashes less frequently and you can sync the video position between your devices. You can also add DVD covers and episode info, but that is SO slow in iTunes. It's definitely not worth the time investment to me. VLC couldn't be simpler.
