I remember this being a common concern when FaceID was first announced. I always wondered, is this a situation that many people are actually worried about? Who are people sleeping with or around who they don't trust? None of my business, I guess. In fact, even going as far back as when TouchID was introduced, I remember Apple having to explain that it won't work with a dead finger because people were concerned about having their fingers cut off to access their phones! I guess it's human nature to think of worst possible scenarios.
I agree and I think it stemmed from spouses/partners and law enforcement. Like I said though, I do agree if you can't trust your spouse/partner to have your phone around you to the point where you fear they may try to unlock your phone at night then there are already red flags everywhere on both sides as far as trust goes. Law enforcement I get, I don't know too often how many times police want to see messages/photos in your phone, but I can see it potentially being problematic enough to cause concern.

Just one more question about Face ID.

If I decide to turn on Lockdown Mode, will this turn off Face ID?

In other words, will Lockdown Mode turn Face ID off and will just use a Passcode?
All you have to do is hold down the volume up and sleep buttons together for a few seconds until the slide to power off option becomes visible. FaceID is disabled until you enter the passcode.

Thanks for the responses to all. I'll be keeping face id mainly for convenience.

By the way, we should be doing a poll on whether people are comfortable with only a passcode or with Face ID.

Just a thought.
