When setting up my iPhone X and iPhone 12 Pro Max I always turned True Tone on from the setup this morning I decided to turn it off and I must say the whites pop a lot more, feels more accurate and high quality when it's off True-Tone looks much better in the iPhone X than on the 12 Pro, it feels too yellowish of a tint.

I'm going to keep it off for now.

Do you prefer it on or off?

When reading lots of text with dark mode on I prefer True Tone. Less harsh blues make it easier to my eyes.

I turned mine off. It’s annoying when I pick up my wife’s phone and she has it on.

I dont use true tione. I use Night Shift on continuously day and night - a bit below 1/2 mark

Clearly we are all different as I can't even begin to understand why anyone would turn it off.
To each his own.
There is a thread with 100's of pages about yellow screens without True Tone off.

Do you think most users would want a feature that does that ON?

True Tone may look "yellower" but it really depends on your lighting. When I want to watch movies in the evening/night I turn off Night Shift but keep True Tone on, otherwise the image gets too blue and stands in contrast to my yellowish lights. Try playing with True Tone when you have white lighting, sun light, and so on, and you will see that True Tone looks a little better than something calibrated for white store lighting.

I use True Tone on my iPad and MBP because it is easier on the eyes, but have always turned it off on my phones. I prefer a white screen on the phones and I don't stay on them as long.

I liked true tone on lcd like the 8 plus but since the xs, I have always turned it off. Current have it off on the mini 12.

I didn’t even think about it on my X/XS, but on the 12 mini it’s OFF for sure. I do know many non-macrumors people who actually prefer the yellow-ness, though, so who am I to judge 🤷‍♂️

I do not like "true tone" at all. For me it is just a marketing bubble. It is just some kind of "auto night shift".
Indoor, with the lights on, it creates a brown/red tone on white screen elements that has nothing to do with real color tone on this lighting conditions. Just compare it to a white sheet of paper under various conditions.
The worst results it shows on the 12pro, that seems to be totaly miscalibrated.
Of course i switch that nonsense off.

I keep it off for two reasons. First, I think it makes everything look terrible. Secondly, It gives me eye strain and headaches (thankfully I was able to figure out that it was True Tone that was the cause of it).

I always keep True Tone off on all my devices. Dont like the yellowish tint.
