If so then he better prepare for a lawsuit. It specifically says he can't do this under than agreement.Apple is sending these out to developers early, right? Maybe that's how he got it.
But if he actually has an iPad Pro I have no explanation for that.
I thought this one can operate your tv and even change inputs per video.Looks great to me, excited to finally be upgrading my ATV2.
One big issue though, you still need multiple remotes to operate your TV. In Apple's idea of a perfect world, no one would ever want to switch inputs because ATV serves all of everyone's needs. But that's just not the case for me, and especially for gamers.
The remote looks great, but universal remotes will have a tough time emulating its functionality.
So, it comes with a charging cable that can't be used with the ATV? That's a standard USB connector, not a USB-C. I was expecting a charging brick that could be plugged into the wall next to your TV chair, but no dice. So where exactly is Apple thinking it will be plugged in to charge? Odd.
He could have plugged it in and started a show or downloaded a game.
Despite not arriving until the end of October, YouTuber Andru Edwards has gotten ahold of the fourth-generation Apple TV and unboxed it on video. The video, which appears to be the first unboxing of the device, offers a glimpse at the new packaging for Apple's new set-top box.
The new Apple TV's packaging is all-black and features a picture of the top of the device on the top of the box. Once opened, the user is presented with the Apple TV box and the brand new Siri Remote. Underneath those are a Lightning cable to charge the new remote and a power cable.
Edwards, who says he received his Apple TV on the day of Apple's "Hey Siri" event, then provides a closer look at both the set-top box and remote.
The fourth-generation Apple TV will be available at the end of October. It'll be priced at $149.99 for the 32 GB option and $199.99 for the 64 GB option.

Why is the remote rechargeable? Seems like a pain in the ass.
When are they going to add an analogue audio output like an RCA or even a Minijack output? Would be a great way to play my music wirelessly!
My understanding is that the USB Type-C port is backwards compatible with all other USB standards but it isn't physically compatible. You could buy an adapter for the port if you really wanted to.So, it comes with a charging cable that can't be used with the ATV? That's a standard USB connector, not a USB-C. its sure big enough to accommodate one and an optical drive....Quite surprised they didn't put a USB port on the Apple TV itself to allow charging of the remote....
This is one thing among many that apple is being super greedy about. HDMI cables like most cables cost them pennies. Yet, they want to sell you a $29 HDMI cable separate from the aTV at the Apple Store. Just like they want to sell you the $19 Lightning cable and $19 wall plug separately...it's such a joke! Things like this really turn me off w/Apple sometimes. Acting like they don't have billions of dollars. No HDMI cord included? That's annoying.
Easy. Go recycle them.To one of the 400 chargers we already have. Seriously, I have so many now that I have extras in a drawer. I don't need another one.
no 4K support & the loss of optical audio out = FAIL
There will definitely be more. This was just a quick and dirty unboxing while I get more stuff shot and edited and all that.
Most people already own an HDMI cable or they are just going to use the same HDMI cable they were already using with their current Apple TV.This is one thing among many that apple is being super greedy about. As Apple's website states, media reviews are not allowed. And devs don't get them until at least a week from now. They announce who's getting them Monday."I'm not sure what the TV button is yet..." Lmao
Am going to assume he was one of the devs who got their hands on one from the conference.
Would be nice to see an OS video, rather than an unboxing of the actual device. I mean, thanks? But uhh...
The USB Type-C port on the Apple TV must be meant for something else or for future add-ons and not necessarily for charging the remote which seems like a completely separate process.
That's what I was thinking... maybe a USB-C to lightning cable?Quite surprised they didn't put a USB port on the Apple TV itself to allow charging of the remote....

The remote is rechargeable now because it uses Bluetooth, it is much more powerful, it has more features, and consumes more power. Why is the remote rechargeable? Seems like a pain in the ass.
