The apple fan boy hate is real, if apple released a device that had great sleep tracking, a battery that last 5-7 days, an always on heart rate monitor, a stress monitor & an understanding that some days a person just needs rest instead of closing stupid rings every day of the year & continually suggesting we up our move goals. On paper the device is phenomenal. I have every Apple Watch & a Fitbit Luxe. Some Fitbits are great devices & thankfully haven’t had any reliability or build quality issues.

Fitbits have really good sleep tracking though. Apple Watch is embarrassingly bad.

i have to schedule when I go to sleep? I have to tell it when I’m up? And the sleep tracking itself or borderline useless. “You slept, probably.”
Fitbit shows way more detail and even has a score. It knows when you go to sleep and when you wake up.

i like my Apple Watch, but tempted to get a Fitbit just for Sleep tracking.
AutoSleep app is good for that.

I occasionally fall asleep with my Apple Watch and I can't say it's ever bothered me (or that I even noticed it). The thing with sleeping with the Apple Watch is that it doesn't get charged, so you spend the next day trying to charge it in short bursts
I have a Series 6. I sleep with my watch on. As long as the screen is off, I have found that it burns around 15% of battery power overnight. I charge once a day, around 8-9pm, and typically have around 35%-45% juice left over before charging. It's definitely NOT FitBit's multiple day battery life, but it's pretty good for an Apple Watch!

As an aside, I use "AutoSleep" to track my sleep. It's a rather sweet program:

I bought a FitBit once. Wouldn’t even turn on. Sent back, refund accepted. Bought an Apple Watch.

Having said that, I use a Polar H10 for heart monitoring and don’t rely on the AW5 as it keeps failing to keep connected to my pulse, no matter how I adjust the strap.
Ok, cool, we have two fitbits and they work flawlessly for $100 each. And the battery lasts up to 2 weeks and is a feather in weight.

The straps on FitBits were very poor quality, and then of course they changed the design so you couldn't get replacement straps.
Agree on the straps. I had a FitBit Charge some time ago, and the band pulled away from the unit leaving the strap bulging on my wrist. FitBit sent a replacement, and that one did the same thing within 6 months. Gave up and got an Apple Watch and have been rather happy since.

I have to say it. It is irrelevant what Fitbit releases because the sync between their app and devise is not working. The pulse you see on a devise is different to what the app will show after the sync. To me…if makes fitbit unreliable and therefor useless.

I bought fitbit once.. still getting over the experience.. what a piece of crap it was.. took it back after a while. It was between apple watches.

the sensors just seem to be there for looks, they were that inaccurate they were useless.. You cant read the screen in any light, the band breaks after a few days, there is zero support, and it doesnt actually do anything it says on the box without a firmware update, you cant get..

The thing that sucks about falling asleep with the Apple Watch on are all the notifications vibrating on your wrist waking you up. I'm sure it could be disabled, but sometimes I fall asleep on the sofa and my watch is going off like crazy vibrating my wrist.

The Sleep Tracking on FitBit is great. I am not sure why Apple struggles to do that well on the Apple Watch. When I had a Fitbit it was always interesting seeing my sleeping patterns and realizing I never get enough sleep lol

I currently just use my Apple Watch ONLY for the gym. Once it needs replacement I am going to look into Fitbit or Garmin.

That sounds kind of contrived and made up, don't you think?

What do you call something like that. Cognitive dissonance?

Looks like an Apple Watch underwent mitosis.

Thanks, I like your animations by now...

I’m to the point where I realized all this stuff is just noise. I use none of the info collected from my AW. Yet I spend several hours each month trying to get things to sync/function/work as advertised.

I think I’m going back to my trusty old Citizen when my AppleWatch finally dies.

What? That I only use my Apple Watch for the gym? I used to wear it all the time, but got annoyed with it. I wear a traditional watch now and just use the AW to track my workouts at the gym.

What does concern me is that my Watch 6 already has only 92% battery capacity left. I use it just like you do (overnight) and charge in the morning or two times a day.

I meant specifically w.r.t sleep tracking. Sleep tracking was years late and turned out to be a non-feature. I expected parity with Fitbit, not whatever it is they made.
Like my watch otherwise for everything else.

my guess is Fitbit has the patents so Apple can’t make anything as good.

Apple Watch 6 still doesn’t track steps climbed. Always says 0 but I climb steps all day! My old fit bit’s we’re always counting steps properly. Lot of faults with aw6 but that’s my biggest one at least till ios 15’s spyware is released.

Looks good! (for a fitness audience) - I've owned about 5 fitbits (and umpteen other fitness trackers) since they launched, have always enjoyed the extremely discreet form factor, but the reliability has been terrible - bought my father a Charge, which broke, and Fitbit sent us out TWO replacements (like two units in the box) and insisted we keep them both. I gave one to my mother, and lo and behold, they both broke after a year.

Didn't stop my dad buying Fitbit after Fitbit each year because it was what he was used to - I eventually bit the bullet and bought him a refurb iPhone SE and an Apple Watch 3 - he seems to think the HR readings are much more accurate on the AW and hasn't looked back...

He doesn't use any of the smart watch features and doesn't like having to charge regularly (the fitbit was once a week or less) - but overall pretty pleased with Apple!

In my circles, Apple Watches seem to be the only wearables that last a very long time under intensive use - I still have a couple of sporty friends rocking a Series 1/2!

A product that is still not an Apple Watch.

It's like if you took an Apple Watch, removed 90% of the features, and only cut the price by 50%. That's a fitbit.
