Because it sorts by folder size first.

Many applications I've used in the past have left rogue data on my machine, usually in /Library and ~/Library. Some of these directories have been hundreds of MB, even GBs on occasion. But listing All Files by Size in Finder would never uncover this, because the individual files aren't large.

Ah ok. Thank you Jason. Yes, that does justify getting the App.

I was just wondering, couldn't this be done in Finder? Under "All my files" and sort by "size"

Oh, let me explain. Not everyone has the same interests as you, so there’s a wide variety of things people might enjoy, so the staff pick items that might appeal to others, or which they might not be aware of.

Sorry if you thought MR was written exclusively to cater to only your tastes. Big world out there, lots of different perspectives. Hope that clears things up for you!

So you think wallpaper is interesting. Mmm interesting.

Instead of OmniDiskSweeper, I use Disk Inventory X, another free app that kind of does the same thing but in a *much* easier to see visual manner:

It's been around for *years* and hasn't really changed functionality in something like a decade, not that it needs to.
This and Spectacle.

You already have the app on your computer that allows this. In your Utilities is an app called Audio Midi Setup. Open that up.

Click the + in the bottom left of the window.
Select Create Multi-Output Device.
Then just click the checkboxes under the "use" column for each of the outputs you want to use at the same time.
Change the title to whatever you want and that will show up as it's own audio output selection from the Sound menu item or in your Sound within System Preferences.

I have just checked it and it cannot do and internal speaker and an external speaker (headphone jack connection) at the same time. Or I am doing something wrong

News Explorer has a nice interface but is guilty of the same design flaw that many other RSS-savvy apps are: It fits everything into one window. As a result, the article titles are crammed into a narrow column and become truncated.

News Explorer doesn't truncate the article titles. And to make space, you can hide the sidebar.

So how is this a rumor?

Really? That's your contribution today?

I would never install any of this malware ********. You have to be senile to buy into any of this crap. Sincerely, it looks like MacTumors is just in this for the bucks at the expense of its readers. SCAMWARE> STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!<<<<<

Relax. I've used App Cleaner for years. It's a great app.

I was going to check it out but a review said it wasn't AFPS (and therefore High Sierra) compatible.

I use it on my iMAC hfs+ and my MacBook Pro APFS. It does appear to be a little slower on my MacBook Pro, so there may be some truth in that. I'll have to take a look.

All of these threads are the same. They start with a list of apps of questionable value... and by page two, everyone is posting the same litany of their favorite apps that have little or nothing to do with the original list... and by page three, we read the same list of "better" or "more productive" apps that appear on page three of the other threads about "interesting" or "useful" or "must-have" apps...

I for one enjoy ready about other apps that are out there - the fact that they have little to do with the apps mentioned on the front page is, TBH, horribly irrelevant.

That's your incorrect opinion. Pretty much everything I've come across so far has been legit and above board. I noticed that you failed to provided a single citation along with this accusation. Why am I not surprised...

Can an opinion be 'incorrect'? Rhetorical question, the answer is no, it can't.

I get backgrounds from Interface Lift and put them into a folder. I pick a new one every other week. Both Windows and OSX have auto-changing backgrounds after some time. I'm not sure what the point of an app is other than to aggregate backgrounds at a specific resolution and quality.

Though I suppose if someone's too lazy...

Yep. Been using that for a long time. I thought I was the only one. If you use Windows, WinDerStat is fantastic, too.

Been like that since the old BBS days!

If the opinion is based upon the assertion of testable data and the data is shown to not support that assertion, then the opinion is wrong.

In this case the assertion was that the applications listed here were forms of malware. Since this can be catagorically proven to be incorrect (as much as anyone can state this about any applications), the opinion that stems from this assertion is incorrect.

I use Cloudmounter a lot as a desktop app for using my Dropbox as a fully available hard drive - free one supports dropbox only and paid supports a fuller range. Its great.

"
CloudMounter
Mount cloud storage as local drive on Mac

CloudMounter is a reliable system utility that allows mounting different cloud storages and web servers to your Mac as local disks. Connect to Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Amazon S3, Dropbox, FTP and WebDAV servers in Finder, as if they are located on your machine."

Opinion: a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

The keywords here are highlighted above. That means it's optional. In this case this the opinion was based upon a clearly defined statement.

Normally one can argue the opinion is uninformed. In this case the poster went behind that and stated a falsehood. Ergo their opinion here is wrong. You'll find plenty of evidence out there to show that yes, an opinion can be wrong.

The irony here is that you're essentially calling my opinion wrong...

Correct, your highlighted words prove my point. Furthermore, you can hold the opinion that his opinion is wrong but that doesn't make it wrong. An opinion can not be wrong - it is merely an opinion not necessarily based on fact or knowledge as you helpfully reiterated.

You don't mention which apps you're claiming to be malware, but none of the apps in the original post fit that description. App Cleaner, like all app removal software, is relatively useless and not completely effective, but that is a far cry from being malware. Do you any facts to support your claim, or are you just spreading FUD because you don't find a need for any of these apps?

To be accurate, ceriess didn't state that the post was an opinion at all. It was a statement claiming malware or scamware, with zero facts to back up the claim. That's not an opinion. That is a false and misleading statement.

I’m not disputing the facts of the matter. My comment was based solely on one clearly written sentence in the response to cerless copied here exactly as written: ‘That's your incorrect opinion.’
