I don't get it. I downloaded the file from the link on my desktop but when I unzip that folder and try to point iTunes to it, it says there is no ipsw software in that file.

If you're in Windows, rename .zip file to ipsw. Now point it to the file. :)

still trying to get out of recovery mode after attempting to restore the phone (which didn't work either for some reason). stay tuned...

didn't work. don't know what I'm doing wrong. renamed folder with that extension, but I need the actual file. several files in that zip folder. just going to try and restore again and if that doesn't work i'll call apple tomorrow or make an appt.

That is the correct firmware. I'm sure the selecting link will provide the same file. Are any other I devices connected to your iTunes? Can you verify that itunes says 6+?

In settings general about, what model does your phone show?

Somehow I downloaded the link that was given (that update came from the apple site) and it worked.

Thank you for your help.

Seems like the suggestion is to take the zip file itself and without going into it or extracting anything from it just simply rename that file from "name.zip" to "name.ipsw" (whatever that name might be) and point iTunes to that file for installation.

I did rename the file but it still won't work. I was online with Apple support last night and their instructions are exactly like the suggestion here.

Since yesterday the link to iPhone 6 ipsw says "Not Found on Accelerator".

The copy on copy.com shared by a forum member is down too.

Any idea where to get it ?
