I don't get it. I downloaded the file from the link on my desktop but when I unzip that folder and try to point iTunes to it, it says there is no ipsw software in that file.
If you're in Windows, rename file to ipsw. Now point it to the file.![]()

That is the correct firmware. I'm sure the selecting link will provide the same file. Are any other I devices connected to your iTunes? Can you verify that itunes says 6+?

Seems like the suggestion is to take the zip file itself and without going into it or extracting anything from it just simply rename that file from "name.zip" to "name.ipsw" (whatever that name might be) and point iTunes to that file for installation.still trying to get out of recovery mode after attempting to restore the phone (which didn't work either for some reason). stay tuned...

didn't work. don't know what I'm doing wrong. renamed folder with that extension, but I need the actual file. several files in that zip folder. just going to try and restore again and if that doesn't work i'll call apple tomorrow or make an appt.
