For my needs, I love Apple Maps. I use it primarily for navigation. I updated and took it for a spin in my car today, and it was a hit.

I can just say, "Navigate to..." and Siri opens the map and begins navigation. At the bottom I see what street I am on, at the top I see the next action I will need to take, and the rest of the screen shows me where I am on the map. The interface is really clean and clear, it's very good for driving, at least for me.

I have a cradle in my car that is connected to my stereo system, and although Siri's voice doesn't come through my car speakers (I wish it did), when she goes to navigation mode, her voice DOES go through my speakers. I was finally able to delete Map Quest's navigation app. I am very pleased with Apple Maps.

A few???? Did you see the apple maps disaster thread on this board?? As of now it has well over 1100 replies, meaning it is one of the longest threads ever on this entire site....

Out of a 49-page thread, it took me until PAGE 34 to find a post from Sept. 19. So about 17 percent of it was complaining from the beta stages.

And for many of us, such as those in the UK, it's exactly the same as it was in beta: useless. It's not just low rez b&w satellite imagery and missing POIs, it has entire towns in the wrong place and missing roads.

You're simply adding yourself to the list of idiots who kept saying 'but it's in beta, wait 'til the official release and everything will be fine', with this kind of comment.

Not just the UK! Here in NZ I've also found greyscale photography, missing roads, directions going the wrong way down one-way streets... and a ferry terminal swimming in the middle of the harbour

+6 pages because the golden master came out on 9/12, if you really want to quibble over thread length.

Oh! I didn't even think about using it with Siri! I'm going to visit family tomorrow so I'll try it when I pick up the rental at the airport. If the directions aren't good, at least I'll know where I'm going. Will report back on accuracy when I return. Thanks!

On that note...flyover is pretty cool in NYC. transit apps a numerous in the app store and while I'll miss being able to do routing in Google Maps, iTrans is a GREAT app IMO. And another note, I really really really missed BBM on my Blackberry when I first moved to iPhones with the 3. But I got over it. :p
