I like the Finder in the default position when I first install OS X, but as time goes on the default position migrates to different places when other finder windows pop up because of App installs and whatnot.

1. Is there a way to reset the Finder to its default OS X install position?

2. Is there a way to fix the position, at least for the first Finder window I open up when I turn the MacBook on?

If I understand, and I think I do, the answer is no.* (At least not in Leopard. I have 10.5.8) I actually miss that ability, which I had in OS9, not just for the first finder window I opened, but for any of them.

*You've used "Finder" and "finder window" interchangeably. Finder is an application.
