My 2.8 QC came today & first thing I installed a Kingston 8GB (4x2GB) kit. The kit is specifically for the '10 MP. Well wouldn't you know it will only recognized 2GB of RAM. Actually I did get it to recognize 4GB at one point when I was putting the sticks in different slots. The RAM socket LEDs light up like an Xmas tree. The chips were Elpida.
I called Kingston tech. 1st level didn't have a clue so I'm doing a warranty swap w/ some sticks w/ other chips. Should be here Weds. I'm hopeful the new back will work. I kinda suspect the sticks were not really up to Mac Pro specs since they all worked in the front slot -- i.e. ValuRAM packaged as premium Mac tax. The tech guy said they had a 1 and 2 proc MP for testing, but I'm guessing they are '09s not '10s.
