Regarding the 8MB partition.

Did the thumb drive come with security of some sort?

No, it didn't. And just to clarify, the drive is shown as 8MB not an 8MB partition. (It is seen as unpartitioned)

I tried buying a memory card (16Gb?, I think) for my blackberry and tried hooking it up to the mac to use as an iPod. When syncing, it was going to take like 5hours or something to sync, so I unplugged the data cable (the RIM sync software wasn't great at quitting). Anyway, after unplugging the data card was corrupted, and I could only get it to reformat to be like 2Gb or something even on a PC or a Mac.

I think it's just the way they get toasted..

Is this not a famous eBay scam - 8GB drives are "tricked" into showing up as 32GB. Then something goes wrong - normally when you try to copy over 8GB of files and the whole thing goes pear-shaped because it is only a 8GB flashdrive.

It is probably now telling you that it is a faulty 8GB drive because that is exactly what you bought...

Time for a PayPal/eBay dispute if that is where you got it..

Thanks for your concern, but the file (folder) I was deleting when my.. erm.. incident occurred was about 5 GB.

Edit: Sorry, I misread, regardless, the drive is shown as 8 MB, even if I was scammed, I'd be happy with 8GB :)

64gb compactflash not readable - mac

Hi guys!
I've got the same problem on my 64GB PhotoFast Monster Compactflash...
Now I can see only 32mb using disk utility, I've tried everything showed in this topic but no success...
Any help?
Thanks!

Identify which CompactFlash card-reader you're using. Be specific: manufacturer, model number, etc.

Some CF card-readers won't handle 64GB cards.
