Hi, I'm trying to find a host for a Flash Media Server. I'm not streaming video, it's for a "whiteboard style app" so the data size is very low. Every provider that I have found is quite expensive as they seem setup for video streaming. Also there doesn't seem to be many companies that offer it. Maybe I'm just not performing the right kind of seaches. If anyone knows of a provider could you please let me know so I can check it out.

Flash Media Server

Hi There,

Good on you for pushing flash multi user functionality.

Why not try http://www.mediatemple.net I remember them offering not that badly priced flash servers.

I have to say though, if it is for uni, speak to your lecturer about getting your faculty to set up a testing server for you, thats what the did for us at Plymouth Uni.

A mate of mine made a multi-player flash webcam game that used flash server to allow multiplayer functionality remotely. His final year blog is here: http://www.mattbilson.co.uk/wordpress/ and the project he did is here: http://www.eye-see-you.co.uk/.

His blog should have lots of info on how he went about developing his game, and if anything is relevant, you can send him a mail and ask him for some help.

Good luck.
