AFAIK, no addons for firefox do the same thing. You can get flashblock, but that just blocks flash and makes you click on a flash content if you wanted to see the video.
OMFG:Alternative: install the ClickToFlash Safari plugin. There's a setting that lets you force YouTube to display H.264 video instead of Flash. It's great![]()

I have the same issues as the OP on a clean SL installation. About 20% more CPU utilization on a C2D.

My guess is that Steve will hold out on Flash for the iPhone forever, and purposely sabotages it in OS X in the hopes that Adobe just gives up and stops with Flash altogetherI'm guessing that it's the same issue preventing the iPhone OS from having Flash in its Safari browser. iPhone OS is built on OS X, afterall.
