    Hi guys!

I've been looking for ways to carry all my internet passwords around with me, and a couple of days ago came across mentions of passowrd managers that fit on a USB drive. When I looked into it, I realised there are even whole apps available that run off a USB pendrive! Like browsers, various data recovery tools, text editors, even media players! It all sounds really cool :)

And so I've decided to build myself a little collection of handy bits abd bobs to carry around along with my earlier idea of a password manager. But there's so much stuff out there it seems, and I couldn't figure out what's worth it and what isn't, so I thought I'd start a thread here where everyone can list their bg favorites!

Anything goes so long as it works on my mac and on pcs, because where I live and move around it's very mac-unfriendly, so if I'm not on my macbook, it's unlikely I'll be using another mac ;):apple:

I wouldn't really put any Mac apps on there, unless you needed it. Most Macs have all the basic stuff you need, and it seems like the only Mac you use is yours, in which case it should have all necessary software.

On my flash drive, I have Firefox, Notepad++, my IDE's for programming (usually installers and not apps), some games (emulators/roms, and others, these can be very handy if you like games and you find yourself doing nothing and wanting to).

Really it just depends on what you do. When you find yourself on the computer with your flash drive, if you say "ah, I wish I could run ____" or "I wish I had a better version of _____", write it down and install a portable version.

Yeah, of course, but that's not why I want them for :) I want to have a way of taking some stuff that's on my computer with me in a convenient, easy to synch way, so I can use it if I'm somewhere without my MB (like at a friend's house). So it's not so much mac apps that I want, as apps that work on both windows and mac. So for example, I'd love a little thing to manage and store bookmarks, so I can load it up using my mac, and take it around with me. If I'm at a friend's house and we're discussing something, sometimes I remember an obscure page I got bookmarked on my MB with something relevant on it, but the 'puter is at home, and I can't share that because it's not something I can retrieve with a simple google. You might say I could always mail the link to people once I get home, but it's kinda dull if the moment's passed <shrug> You know what I mean? Or it's nice to have my passwords along 'cause then I can log on to places and check things somewhere else, without having to remember all my passwords. Stuff like that mostly :)
