Flashed GTX 680: NVidia Web Driver required?

Do I need to install the NVidia Web Driver even if I'm running a flashed GTX 680? Since the card is officially supported by macOS, isn't it supposed to work OOB? Or is the Web Driver in other ways useful, even if my card could run without it?
