Flashing a FireGL X3 as a newbie

So, for the past days I was wondering if I would be able to flash a card easily for my Digital Audio Power Mac G4 466. As I really would like to have also an Leopard partition, the old Rage 128 Pro couldn't do it as of QE limitations. So I settled on a cheap FireGL X3 that I found for 50$ rather than paying 150$ for the 9800 Pro. I have flashed one time a card for my Mac Pro, but that was done pretty easy. Butflashing cards on AGP and especially PPC is new for me, so can anybody help me doing so? I've read that I should tape pins over and change roms that they can fit onto my card and and and...

Lastly, not sure it will work in your DA. You mentioned it was a DA, not a Sawtooth, but they might be similar. IDK, haven't kept up/used much since around 2020.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
My DA is practically the same as the QS, in comparison to the Sawtooth I have a totally different logic board with a 4x AGP slot so the FireGL should fit.

OK, be aware then that if your DA is indeed similar to the QS there is the possibility the card will not function. I could never get mine to work in my Quicksilver no matter what I did.

Yeah, I read the hassle of yours, I would’ve thrown myself already out the window .
Do you know any good GPU that is so easy to flash that it’ll go with me?

No, I'm sorry I do not. At some point I was able to trade one card for another that worked in my QS and was the equivalent or better of the FireGl. It was already either flashed or a Mac card. That card, combined with the two others I already had completed my quest and so I stopped looking and especially abandoned flashing.

You might try the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. That's a good card and came in a Mac edition. Requires supplemental power though (molex cable).
