Success!
First of all the ROM didn't need any editing at all. It worked as it should right from the start, the problem lay with my USB drive. Below is what I did to successful flash the card.
Well guys I rebuilt my USB stick with DOS 7.1 Which is the only one I could get to work and seriously I've tried almost every program out there I have like 15 different ISO to Boot USB programs on my windows desktop also various other ISO files I ended up doing it manually. I then dropped ATIFlash and X1950MAC.ROM into the Root of the drive and attempted a flash, I was flashing blind so I let the computer load up and Typed,
atiflash -p -f 0 X1950MAC.ROM
then enter and went away to make a cup of tea, came back and switched the computer off, I then switched it on again to see if I would get any POST beeps, I did! 8 beeps for incompatible graphics card, That's a great sound! it usually means the flash went well. (previous flashes with the X1950 XT the fans would just sit on full blast and it wouldn't post and the only way I could recover the card was the brutal yet effective 1+8 pin short.) So I yanked the card out of the computer and put it into the G5, connected it all up and we have a boot screen!
As you can see OSX now recognises it correctly now.
I guess something on my pen drive was corrupt as I typed the same commands using FreeDOS but it would always just result in a failed flash.
I've also done a quick benchmark, 6600 VS X1950XT I know they aren't the same caliber of card but it's till good to see what you've gained with an upgrade.
As you can see the 6600 (256MB) only pulls in a score of 5326.
as for the X1950 XT.. well.. 16040, That's as a 3 fold increase!
Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate it.
