Hi everyone.

Is it possible to flash a MSI Radeon RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC to get the bootscreen on my Mac Pro 2009 5.1 (4.1)? And do someone know (if it's possible) will i lose one of the outputs of the card?

Thanks!

So far nobody I've seen has been able to get boot screens on these cards. Generally it's older Nvidia cards that are flashable and the R9 280, 7950,7970 series AMD cards that can be done...

You can use the 580 series you have without boot screens though.

No problem. There is a webpage for older Nvidia cards with Mac boot screens if you want to purchase them, but they only will work with OS installs up to High Sierra until the web drivers from Nvidia are updated for Mojave. Let's hope that happens. You can research the compatibility of these cards if you're thinking of buying one.

macvidcardsdotcom is the url... I would avoid the ebay ones as they're usually just bad copies of their cards.

The 580 you have is a great card and I'd keep that. Have you had success using that model card in OS X? Generally the Sapphire cards are the recommended models and haven't seen anyone with an MSI branded model working. If you have an original Mac GPU that came with your MacPro and it has boot screens, I would just stay where you are.

Thanks for the info again! ;-) I think it's ok right now, the MSI works great en when I must do a clean install then I put my old Readeon 7950 in place. And this MSI card do what he must do, all outputs are working (got 3 monitors + 1 Sony widescreen tv), render times are perfect (use it for 4K video), and he is ferry quit, can't hear de fans.

I place a view pics of my setup en Mac for info. ;-)

Hi There!

iDream, just want to know if you finally could flash the MSi RX580 Armor in order to show the startup screen in OS X .
I received one today and want to flash it before installing it if possible.

Regards
