I just tried the gif keyboard, its a bit buggy and makes the keyboard feel cheap. Fleksy needs to stick to what they know and try to avoid the urge to cram in too many features, the third-party keyboards are already fairly slow to load (compared to the system keyboard)

I'm used to swiping. I can't stand typing any other way. It's the one major reason why using an iPhone was inconvenient for me. Now that iOS 8 allowed third party keyboards, I'm also using Swype on my iPhone 5 --- although it kinda feels buggier than the Android version.

Having a background picture behind your keyboard is interesting though...haha

I have tried many of these keyboards and I always keep coming back to the stock one as it seems to work the best for me. Am I the only one?

Nope.

I have tried several and keep going back to the stock keyboard.
Several of the websites I use do not accept input from third party keyboards yet work flawlessly with the stock one. None of the third party keyboards I have tried have sound. And then there are the glitches of not even showing up.

Nope, me too. Lasted about 3-4 days with Swype, which I quite enjoyed, but just went back to stock as well. Generally always prefer stock everything really hence why Android's strong customisation doesn't really appeal to me, not bothered about it.

I've had Fleksy for a while, but I've been using Swiftkey which is my favorite swiping keyboard so far. I just gave Fleksy another try and it's not allowing me to swipe. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I'm not willing to have a learning curve just to use a keyboard, that's why I like Swiftkey, plus it's pretty accurate. I tried nintype and didn't like it at all, I asked for a refund.

So, does this keyboard allow for swipe typing, or is it some other input method? If it has swipe, I'd love to try it, but I got burned in my last keyboard purchase (Nintype). I am still using SwiftKey, because it works like a swipe keyboard should and doesn't swap the number and keyboard keys around annoyingly like Swype.

Number Row!

Having a number row is all I needed to hear. I am off to try it out. Why Apple can't have this option I do not know!

I've been beta testing it for months prior to its release, and used it as a jailbreak tweak for a year before that, and i too have been pretty disappointed with other keyboards, but this keyboard is so amazing i can't use an iphone without it. if someone hands me their phone to type something i feel paralyzed.

whats your email address.

I sent it to you in a private message on MacRumors.

Am I the only one who's also tried many keyboards but bothered not to invest in any of them because - even at the current iOS 8.1.2 - the OS is still so buggy that the third-party keyboard occasionally won't even open, forcing me to force-quit the app and relaunch it just to get it to work?

exactly why I stopped using SwiftKey and Fleksy

I am more interested in being able to edit the suggestions / autocorrect offered up by the keyboard for quick type. Just because I selected a word once or twice, doesn't mean I will always want to use that same word for a similar typing or swipe shortcut.

I don't swipe, and I don't use this keyboard, but I hope this extensions system continues to evolve on all iOS keyboards.

Any 3rd party keyboards keep the Microphone Button?

I've tried swept, the theme board and others only to find the microphone button isn't available :(

Is it possible to try nintype without having to pay $5 for it? After having tried and hated so many of these third party keyboards, I'm wary of paying $5 for another that may end up getting uninstalled instantly. But nintype definitely looks like it has the potential to be the first third party keyboard that I actually like and use instead of the built in keyboard...

As for this Flesky update, why is it on the front page? This definitely isn't worthy of anything other than the iOS blog.

Save your money and don't buy NIN. If you didn't like the other keyboards you probably won't like NIN. It's very complex. I was using swype/swiftkey the last year or so on Android so I was already ahead of lifetime ios keyboard learning curve wise and couldn't get into it. I bounce back and forth between the ios keyboard and swiftkey now. I slightly prefer swiftkey but I find it isn't as accurate as the android version for some reason.

ohh man i can't wait to send annoying gifs and include emojis in every sentence ever!!!...i hate these millenniul idiots

What I find really dodgy is that the developer changed the IAP pricing descriptions.

Before, it listed the prices for each IAP (i.e. $0.99, etc) and with the new update they have changed it to say "GET" in the same manner that Apple now displays the price for free apps in the App Store.

This is no doubt an attempt to confuse the unattentive consumer into thinking its going to be free then tapping through the pop up without realizing they're paying for it.

I like the stock keyboard(s) fine, except for one thing... no cursor keys. I find touch-hold-drag to insert cursor kludgy.

Does anyone know of a keyboard app/extension that could add a row of cursor keys to the default keyboards, or that just has cursor keys in general?

The 6Plus has L-R cursor controls in landscape mode.

Anyone know of a keyboard for the 6+ that splits it like an iPad? This really needs to be a feature ASAP.

This is getting so taccy and silly.

I don't believe we should have been given this much flexibility with keyboards. Apple should have developed some different colours in-house and made these available.

You screenshot is a classic illustration why more options aren't always better.

What a mess!

Stock Apple iOS keyboard wil do (and did in the past) just fine.

This may also be a generational thing. As an old geezer, I am fine with something standard. If it isn't bothering me it's not worth looking around for
alternatives.

Plus, it looks like the personal contact shy younger generation texts way more than older folks.

Nothing wrong with it, just a sign of the times.
