Even though my phone is scheduled for delivery on the 25th, I don't believe it. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't arrive until October. If it hasn't shipped by now, it isn't getting here on Friday.

Does anybody think this obsessive behavior about a techno gadget is normal?

Anybody who can't wait should buy a matching couch for a psychological examination,
unlimited consultations of course and yes, you can buy that couch in rose gold.

I somewhat agree. Not about the psych examination, but this obsession of knowing about your order down to which plane it is on is just ridiculous.

An expected delivery date is more than enough for me.

Well just in case it blows up while in the air, at least you'll know why your phone didn't arrive when expected.

Seriously, I'm happily waiting for plentiful store availability, upon which I will probably saunter into my nearest Apple Store and pick one up. :)

In about, oh, three months.

ordered from ATT, still shows "In Progress" with estimated shipping of Sept 24. I sure hope ATT is planning on doing guaranteed overnight delivery.

The news just showed one of these flight track views. I got excited at first, but it's just the president of China arriving for a three day visit in Seattle. You'd think he could have brought a load of iPhones with him.

Not quite as bad as the Pope in New York and Philly, but we're being warned of severe traffic disruptions while he's here.

Apple STILL shows my order as "Preparing for Shipment" even though I ordered at 3am like every other impatient east coaster. But of course my friend who ordered the next morning is showing up as shipped with a tracking number

But when I saw that mention about "track by reference" I took a shot and logged into my MyUPS account (anyone can set it up for free), and bingo! Apple may not show it as "shipped" but UPS sure did! It went from Shenzhen to Hong Kong but hasn't showed up as being stateside yet. Amazing we can get stuff like this so quickly. There go my weekend plans...

There seems to be some update issues this year. I ordered just after 2am CST/3AM EST and even though my order went through fine, I did not get my confirmation email until 6 hours later.

Then yesterday, my new phone showed up in my support profile. 15 minutes later I decided to run the serial through chipmunk, logged back in and it was gone.

Checked UPS yesterday, and it has shipped. I never was notified, I checked my order status and I'm still showing preparing to ship as well.

Did the UPS reference check and found my tracking number. It's moving, but still in Zhengzhou (as of last update), which is where the Foxconn factory is. The phone is in my support profile. Oddly though, when I ran the serial number to find out the factory and week manufactured, it said "week 38", which was ...last week? I ordered it on the 12th and they had to build it after I ordered it? I thought they had tons sitting around already built...

That will be just fine for this cowboy, but usually the more expensive versions (will buy a 128 GB space gray) become easier to get faster. Just can't decide between a 6 for better portability or a 6 plus for my ailing eyes.
3 months would actually give the case manufacturers time to catch up on how to incorporate the 3D touch issue and the case knock off guys will have their versions available too.
BTW: The Otterbox for my 4S was/is terrible. It scratches and ruins the phone and the outer rubber case keeps falling apart within weeks.
Unfortunately I can't go without a case, as I am a Klutz and always drop my phones a lot.

This will be helpful once my iPhone actually ships. It's Tuesday and my order still states "Preparing for Shipment", though it still fortunately has the delivery date listed as Friday. I expect to my iPhone will ship by tomorrow at the latest. I live in SC, which isn't that far away from Kentucky...

Try Spigen tough armor, slim armor, or Neo Hybrid. Good protection, not a ton of bulk.

I remember when I could see MY iPhone coming from China. However, due to my grandfathered plan I had to order directly (or actually "indirectly" thanks Chewbaka) from AT&T this year to keep my plan. Now I can see nothing...AT&T!!!!

I hope you didn't order a 6S+. I was told by an AT&T rep that they didn't have a single one set for launch day and all of them are being delivered middle to end of October. I'm so glad that we were forced to order direct from them instead of from Apple which, 9 hours later, I still could have had the model I wanted on launch day. KHAAAAAN!!!!!!

Lol I feel for you. I went Plus this time and just paid in full for my phone direct from Apple. So AT&T wouldn't allow that as well?

Yes, I unfortunately ordered the 6s+. I thought in Space gray and 64GB it would at least be available for launch...but noooo...mine states Oct. I got up at 2:30AM EST for that?!?

BTW, Space gray is my final frontier...this is my voyage...

That they would have allowed. They basically said that the only way to sign another 2 year contract was through their site. If I wanted to use their Next program (never. never. never.) I could have bought it through Apple. But they only allowed 2 year contracts to be signed through their site. I still have unlimited data so I'm holding onto 2 year contract pricing.

Wow, that sucks. I'm on next plan - where you pay monthly for the phone. I lost my unlimited when I I left my old company- I had my phone through their account and couldn't transfer the unlimited data.

My 6s+ space grey 128GB is on its way.

I'm curious, did anyone who ordered from AT&T receive notification of delivery yet? While I know mine is probably not coming on time, my wife ordered a 6S and hers is scheduled for Friday, but we haven't heard anything yet.

I ordered mine from Apple's Apple Store app on the iPhone. So far, the Apple status page shows 'Preparing for shipment' although tracking it by UPS reference number, it has landed in Alaska overnight and has already departed, probably on the way to Kentucky. Apple status still says delivery by Friday, just like the UPS site.

I've checked UPS and Fedex. No reference to either order we placed. I really think that this new AT&T policy is going to come back to haunt them as customers are going to opt for the iPhone plan over the Next plan, being as it's better for customers anyway.

I went with the AT&T Next program as well.

You realize that Next actually saves you money now right? It wasn't that way when they first introduced it. But you spend less over 2 years with next than you do with the contract. For one the $40 phone on the plan fee is dropped to $15 while on next, and your taxes and fees are a few dollars lower too. My wife is on a two year contract, I'm on next. We spend more for her line than for mine.

I am on a legacy unlimited data family plan as well as is my wife. We spend $145 a month total, and now unlimited data gives you 22 gigs per line before the possibility of throttling. If I switched to Next, I would need an almost $400 plan to be comparable. Sorry, but Next does not save me money.

And if you want to compare apples to apples (I'm sorry, the pun was too easy) under Next's 24 month installment plan you have to pay for 18 months before you can even trade the phone in and upgrade. Under the new iPhone Upgrade program, you only pay for 12 before you upgrade. You therefore are paying much less under that plan than for the Next plan.

I just have to disagree about Next. I have yet to find a scenario that will save me money under that plan vs. every other option I currently have. If I had a mobile share plan, then I'd go with the Apple Upgrade program. Being as I have unlimited data, I'll stick with my current plan as long as possible and continue to pay less for the device than I would with the Next program.
