Not quite, you need to subscribe to an active plan, then you can move. I subscribed to weekly first, then switched to monthly
Just an update, that worked perfectly as you (and others) have said previously.

Basically I subscribed to the weekly option first, (£3.99 per week) when I went into the app to change the subscription plan I then saw the monthly option for £5.99 per month. I went to subscribe / upgrade to the monthly plan and it said that Apple will refund any of my unused previous subscription. Few hours later I got the £3.99 refund back and ended up with the £5.99 per month which is what I wanted.

Find it strange that the option is not available up front and I have to go through this convoluted way to get to the monthly plan.

Thanks all for the advice!

It’s free data/info I get from my carriers app. ie. United uses Live Events, gate and seat info in dynamic island, etc, etc. Why would I pay?! They all pull from the same data.
Not every airline app is built equally. United and Aeromexico have pretty awesome apps, but I can’t say the same for Turkish Airlines. For an airline that provides such an awesome in-flight experience, I would’ve expected Turkish’s app to be at the same level, but it just isn’t. Buggy, poorly designed, and a huge lack of features.

Additionally, some airlines don’t even have an app. Flighty provided me with basic info for my Sky Express flight in Greece… Sky Express doesn’t even have an iPhone app.

So it’s nice to have a central place for every one of your flights (including the VERY small ones like Safarilink in Kenya) with the same design and the same features.
