I want to read disks I used with an imac v. 9 but my floppy drive no longer works. It was/is a smartdisk model fdusb-m (the one that came with different color tops to mix and match with an imac). Can someone suggest to me an appropriate replacement?

Any USB Floppy Drive should work, so long as you are using standard floppy discs and not the LS-120 discs that your drive was capable of using. Just walk into Best Buy (or another electronics retailer) and buy one.
