I pray every day that Apple restores the iOS 6 look. I do agree with the lawsuit. Many people did not upgrade because of the horrible iOS 7 look and were out face time.

People want that outdated design back? Crazy... Then when they revert to that they'll want something else. People just want something to complain about.

Sounds like these people have never played online games or used online services before. A vast majority of them, if not all of them, have it in their terms that online services are NOT guaranteed to work forever and could be shut down at any time. It’s the same thing here with FaceTime.

I'm sure if your washing machine stopped having a few clothing and spin cycles that used to be there because they decided to "stop support to avoid costs" you'd have a conniption fit... 100% for sure.
... Thats a very odd analogy, and it doesn't really fit.

A better one would be, that the washing machine manufacturer used to provide a monthly supply of washing liquid free to you, but then after many years of free washing liquid they said that they were going to supply a different washing liquid, that required a free update of the electronics in your washing machine. Some very old washing machines would not be able to receive the electronics update because they're incompatible. You're still able to use the washing machine but you won't get the free washing liquid any more.

Court should automatically dismiss all frivolous cases against Apple.

I always find it funny when people link that to planned obsolescence. What Apple did was the opposite of planned obsolescence. Keeping your phone running longer without shutting down randomly means your phone would last longer.
This article is two weeks old, but I clicked back to here from today’s article on the new settlement in the California version of this lawsuit. I think about this all the time.

Any other New Englanders on this forum? Anyone ever been using their iPhone in the dead freezing cold and it just shuts off at 10% or 5%? Reconsider if you don’t think this is a good thing. Freezing temperatures are b a d for lithium-ion batteries. (Ever notice how many devices have a “safe operating temperature” or something along those lines in their manual? iPhones are fairly unique in terms of being a device that most owners carry on them literally 24/7, regardless of the conditions. They still have a safe operating temperature, as literally any and every other device does.)

It would be interesting to see an alternate timeline where they never implemented proper battery management and, years down the line, people were FUMING because their phones had to be constantly recharged and their phone capacity were at <80% what it began as within 1-2 years of owning the phone. (And there’d be no way to actually check/confirm that on a technological level, so people would be in their conspiracy theories to the depths of the Earth and back.)

Regardless of any of this, I get why the lack of communication and transparency in the beginning made people feel short-changed.
