Is there an adapter (amazon preferred, low price) that I can connect my lightning cable headphones to a 3.5mm jack? Im taking a 6 hour Jet Blue flight and I want to use my headphones to watch some tv.

Edit: Id also use them on my MacBook. And I'm flying with my 11 year old son from Southern California to Florida. We are both flying for the first time ever. Im very nervous. He's excited.

I'm pretty sure that a flight attendant will pass out disposable headphones shortly after the flight takes off. They are not good quality by anyone's definition, but they'll do the job. I normally fly Delta or one of their codeshares and have always been offered a pair of headphones on every flight. I doubt Jet Blue is any different.

They offer them on flight for $5. I would recommend ordering a budget pair on Amazon. Plenty of cheap ones with good reviews that will do the trick.

Doesn't Apple sell a lightning to 3.5mm adapter for like $9?

He is looking for the exact opposite adapter. Needs to use his lightning headphones on a 3.5mm jack.

Forgive me, but you don’t own any non-lightning headphones? I didn’t think that was possible in this day and age.

I actually dont either. I may have a pair of old apple earbuds around but pretty sure I only have the lightning earpods and AirPods.

I have some Sennheiser HD 598's, but I wouldn't subject anyone to that on a plane since they are an open design. Other than that I've got the lightning EarPods and some bluetooth headphones. My last 3.5mm headphones (Bose Q something) need a new cable. So yes, it is possible to not have any 3.5mm headphones in this day and age.

Wow. I think we have a minimum of 20-25 sets in our house.

Bluetooth is more convenient in most cases and I don't spend much on headphones/headsets since they generally last me a decent amount of time. 1 pair for my gaming PC, 1 pair for gym/travel and one extra pair for other stuff.

Honestly the most convenient headphones are the ones that are bluetooth but also have a cable included. Something I'll look into for my next pair.

Edit: Most United flights let you watch movies/shows on your phone, but for those that don't (the ones with DTV) I just turn on subtitles or listen to my own music.

Like others, I would recommend just buying a cheaper pair of headphones that you could use on the flight. Then you could just store them for whenever you fly or just need standard headphones.

And I hope you enjoy your first flight :)
