A few years ago, I had a computer damaged by airport security, which is why I have been only flying with company laptops or my iPad (since I have a case for it), but never my own computers anymore.

However I'm thinking of giving it an other shot brining my own personal computer (the M2 MacBook Air). Did you guys have your M2 MacBook Air damaged when flying (without using a case) or is the build quality of the M2 MBA robust enough not to get scratched / damaged by security personnel.

How did they damage it? Theoretically, you take it out of your bag (in those airports that don't yet have the fancy new scanners) and put it on a tray; they shouldn't touch it.

I just installed a Clear Matte Skin on my M2 MBA SlickWraps. Cant tell its even installed! I had one on my 2015 MBP lasted the life of the laptop! Just installed one on my wife's M1 MBA from Wrap Bros.. Theirs are more of a matte feel compared to SW theirs are smooth but matte . Pass through TSA all the time and take them out with no worries.

I don't use any type of skin or snap on case and have not had any problems. That being said I baby my devices and have a nice sleeve it goes into when not in use. I also don't travel much with it but when I do it has it's own sleeve and that goes into another bag with padding. And I have midnight. That being said if you choose any color besides silver and don't use a skin or snap on case you have to be careful because it is just anodized soft aluminum. It will scratch and show the base metal fairly easily. If you are worried silver would be the safest bet. Build quality is very good so I don't think you would have any issues.

Would you mind sharing which sleeve do you use for your MacBook? I am in the market for one and looking for ideas. Thank you.

I used to use a basic Incase sleeve which was fine, then a more sturdy leather Sfbags.com sleeve, both were great for travel. That being said, most backpacks have the dedicated laptop built-in sleeve so with or without extra protection your Air should be fine, just staying aware it’s there i.e. not sitting on it…
I can’t speak to the OP about “airport security damaged it” that sounds unlikely so … yeah get a sleeve or a bag with padding at minimum, but I don‘t think this or that brand matters, as much as being mindful your device is there and treating your luggage accordingly.

Wow that looks great, especially for the price, impressive!
