Hello! I am really enjoying focus mode and have heard people on podcasts talk about setting up a "Personal" focus that blocks work things. Is this possible as is? When I try and create a focus I only see the possibility to choose who to allow to notify, not who to NOT allow. I'd love to basically turn off my various work email apps. Thanks if advance (and sorry if this has been asked--I thought it would have been, but I did a search and couldn't find it).

I’d love the option too but for now there is no easy way to do so. You can always add every people in your contacts except your work people, but it’s not super convenient

The whole design point of Focus is turning off anything you don’t want during the focus with a few exceptions. It’s only sensible to whitelist rather than blacklist stuff. Just don’t add those work email apps to the allow list and you are done.

Edit: oh you mean contacts. Well. That’s a bit hard.

Even white listing every app other than work ones seems a bit more than I want to do. I imagine there are a number of people who would like to silence just work things at home, so I think it is very sensible.

I currently have Personal Focus on (for when I am not at work). I have my family listed as allow contacts and the phoine app, iMesage, watch, Find my apps allowed. I just received a call from someone that wasn’t in the allowed list. I thought people who tried to contact you and weren’t on the allowed list would be silenced with a phone call and message. Is that correct? If so, the focus doesn’t seem to be doing that.

Edited to add: I figured out that if I don't want to get disturbed by anyone not in the allow list, I had to remove the message and phone app. After I changed the app preference, Focus worked as it should.
