I’ll get an engineering degree and rework a Nokia 3390 to work on modern 5G networks before I spend $2,400 on a phone.

Aside from making calls, what's the difference between a foldable iPhone and a foldable iPad Mini?

iPad mini is for people who can't afford foldable iPhone.

Same difference between the OG iPod and OG iPhone.

And…early adopters will find out after 12 months that Apple doesn’t want them back either #AVPisworthless
I mean, you can sell it on the second hand market. I would buy one in good conditions for… half the price? A little less, yes.

In my case I’m only interested in being able to use several Mac floating screens in the same space. That must be so cool… and I don’t think I would notice the difference between an M5 and an M2 AVP.

Honestly, expected.

I would have bought this probably 4 years ago, but lately I've gotten really tired of touchscreen keyboards. Spent some time with the minimal phone (the eink one) and really waiting on a high end blackberry form factor device. Haven't even come close to being tempted by anything newer than my 15PM.

Honestly even if it was the same price as the Pro Max I wouldn’t buy it, having used both types of foldable I don’t see the point at all for my particular use case, just adding an extra step to use the phone.

Silly money for a pointless product! iPhone 17 + IPad is less than that. Having owned the Samsung fold 5 and 6, I really do not see the point of these. Interesting but inevitably pointless. Nice engineering I have no doubt. But then this is a guess and not an informed leak by the sound of it. Please stop it Apple. Give me an Air with 2 decent cameras and you have got me. Not this expensive monster we think you might be producing.

That's unfortunate. I like the idea of combining my iPhone and iPad Mini. However it looks I'll be priced out of this luxury.

I was an early adopter of the iPad 1st gen. That wasn't so bad. Of course, it was rather primitive compared to the upgraded versions that came after it, but it served its purpose well for some time and I enjoyed it.
I was a first-adopter going back to the original Macintosh 128K in 1984... and I was a first-adopter for numerous products over the years, but I stop a couple decades ago since I was burned more than a few times.

Well, there's always a risk when being a first-adopter of any product, I suppose.

I think we have to balance the potential usefulness of a product for us, against our willingness to accept imperfections.

sure, and it could also start at $1799 ...
And just remember that pretty much all "analysts" predicted price increases for the iPhone 17 models - and what happened?

But every "analyst" gotta say something, true or false ...
Just remember how often they were right versus the one time they were off.
But every forum user gotta write something, true or false…

I highly doubt they want to launch above that $1999 price point which itself will be a tough sell over the $1200 pro max. Especially when the foldable will likely loose the camera features and overall durability of the pro models.

I’m definitely excited to see how they approach a foldable both in hardware and especially software. Every foldable I’ve played around with has felt more like a prototype than a polished device so hopefully Apple can nail this form factor.
Speaking of durability, what will AppleCare+ cost? $500 for 2 years or $25/month?

Tim seems to be coasting on batteries dying to spur upgrades...now he can sell an expensive divide and also hope the screen acts up...he is just salivating at it...but might retire anyways.

As a Pixel Fold owner and an iPhone owner, I don't see the benefit that comes from the device that I can just power on the front screen. Yes I can carry one device, and there is some amazing multi-tasking, but I use my computer for that.

If I were in the field and on the go 24/7, it could possibly replace my phone & tablet, but even spending 2K I get an iPhone Pro and an iPad Pro. So really there needs to be some sort of value proposition.

As someone who has owned a foldable phone in the past I would be interested in a folding iPhone, but there is no way I will spend 2400 dollars on one. I won't spend 2000 dollars on one.
