With rumors' currently hinting at two possible foldable iPhones in development, I'm curious as to MR posters preference. A z flip style one, or a galaxy fold tablet style one. Personally, I can see the benefits of both; a z flip style iPhone with a 6.7 inch display which is easily pocketable. Or a more ambitious tablet style foldable. I'd be happy with either, but I feel like I lean towards the z flip style device; at least until they can get the aspect ratio perfect for a tablet style foldable.

They both serve their purposes with apples products, and personally i cannot wait for Apple to release them. The Z Flip design for the iphones, and the Galaxy fold for the ipad in all sizes (7.9, 10.2, 10.5, 10.9, 11 and 12.9 inch sizes as we have now). The Z flip style iphone in particular though would be perfect for me as i do appreciate compact phones.

The Z flip style is something that's a bit more practical; I could imagine it existing much sooner. A 6.7 inch pro max style phone, which folds into something small and pocketable. If they could keep the weight lowish it would be the perfect device. The galaxy fold style device is truly futuristic, and what I think the ultimate foldable form factor will be. The issue is right now that the galaxy fold struggles to utilize its aspect ratio properly in a lot of apps and videos. However, that could just be an android issue; I would trust Apple a lot more to get app and video scaling sorted considering they own both hardware and software.

Have no need for a z flip like foldable iPhone, give me that 7.7" foldable bad boy right now 😍iOS goodness on the big screen that can fit in your pocket comfortably, take my money right now. 😱😱😱

Z Flip looks cutter but in my opinion, a Z Fold iPhone would be a better choice
My brain said Z Fold, my heart would say Z Flip
Let imagine an iPhone Z Flip, so cute, so tiny in the pocket, as Mini enthusiast, sure i will like it

Won't have that problem with iOS 😎 android and Samsung have always been useless when it comes to tablets.

there is a reason why iPad is smashing the tablet market. you want something done properly, wait for apple to do it.

I'm thinking the other way here. My brain says Z Flip my heart says Z Fold. Z Fold sounds more futuristic; but I feel the Flip is more realistic and would be at a cheaper price point. I'm sure we will get both eventually. Foldables are the future IMO (unpopular opinion I know).

I just hope for a galaxy Fold style iPhone, the front screen is something with a decent size. If they did it right I would defo buy one; I have a long train commute, so being able to fit a pocketable phone which can essentially fold out into a tablet would be great. I would buy one on launch.

Agree, don't want a long narrow candy bar screen like on the fold z 2. 🤦‍♂️🤮

Z Flip its like having an 12 Pro Max and when its fold, a mini iPhone in the pocket
Dont see the real advantage when 12 Mini is already there (it fits in the pocket^^)
While in the other hands Z Fold, you got a pretty decent front screen display of 5 (very long like a remote tv) when its unfold, you ve got literally an iPad Mini
Z Flip its like reducing the size of normal/standard size phone
Z Fold its like having 2in1 (iPhone screen + iPad screen)
Oppo also launched a concept phone: rollable screen
The least convenient on the list, would be the Huawei choice (or Microsoft Duo)
Z Flip or Z Fold or Oppo are more convenient on the paper
I really do agree with your opinion about foldable, its exciting, if it was cheaper, i would most likely try to get one just for testing

The advantage of a Z Flip style phone would be that its a large display phone with a standard aspect ratio that you can fit in your pocket. The only thing it shares with the mini is its pocketability, not its display size. If what some initial leakers like Prosser say are correct, plans for a Z Flip style phone would be that it has a 6.7 inch display, a far cry from the mini with 5.4 inches. I don't think the mini and a potential Flip style iPhone have identical target audiences; a lot of mini owners here want a one handed small device. A flip phone with 6.7 inches wouldn't be fully usable with one hand, it would still be a phablet just a more portable one.

Z Fold is the more unique, futuristic and innovative device that's for sure. It brings things other than pocketability. You're right on that.

I didn't add rollables to the poll since there is no real rumours about an apple rollable device. But I do really like the idea of a rollable iPhone.

I think there is a market for them, but I would be sceptical as to how robust they might be at first. How long would they last in and out of my pocket while on the go?

It will last longer than battery or any desire to switch on newer iPhone model
Foldable technology has become more mature
Fold 1 = beta version
Z Fold 2 = mature product

Z Fold 2 = mature product
Nowhere near being a matured product, hideous product in my opinion, nothing special about a plastic screen that you can damage with your finger nail and don’t get me started on that crease running down the middle of the screen. 🤦‍♂️

That is the reason why apple hasn’t released a foldable yet, but when they do it’ll be the best on the market with no defects.

I meant for foldable perspective, its way better than Fold 1
I still do believe its the most convenient and matured foldable phone
The others dont (look at Microsoft Duo, its terrible device with outdated specs and very far from what Samsung made for their fold products)
The foldable phones rather share a niche market, that's why it seems growing slowly

it seems apple want to go down the flip route but I don't have much of a use case for that. seems rather pointless to be honest.

I have fold 2 and this is way more practical than a flip. however this won't truly be main stream until the price becomes under 1k. as long as it remains 2k then it won't truly be the future of tech as not enough will have interest at the current price point.
