It’s funny people didn’t say that when the first iPhone came out. MagSafe should have been there since the start then

The first TV's were black and white. The first cars mass produced had hand cranks for starters. My IIe had 128K ram (with the 80 column card)

Some times newer features become essential features.

Mag sa Fe, M Ags Afe, MAGs AF E.... dang it! How do I spell it? I need to send Tim a mail to make sure that that new fangled phone will have it.

MAGSAFE... there it is 😎.

Dear Tim,

Make sure the Ultra iPhone has MagSafe.

Yours truly,

EVERYBODY

What percentage of people are currently buying the Samsung or Huawei foldable? I barely see them in the wild, and I know a lot of people who think of themselves as rich (they brag).

I’m not sure this is the right thing to focus on when you have many things to fix, Apple. Split this foldable in half, make it a bit bigger to compromise less, and call it iPhone Mini Battery Life Edition (or Neo), it might not sell as good as iPhone Pro or even the Air, but I think it would sell better than a foldable at $2,000.

We didn’t have all the MagSafe accessories when the first iPhone or before the first iPhone with MagSafe came out 😊

It’s a testament to the success of MagSafe that there are people who use it everyday, like me.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. Why does every new Apple product need every feature imaginable to justify its price? Apple isn’t making this to be the one iPhone everyone buys. They’re creating a new category for people who value a specific form factor and are willing to accept some compromises.

Apple has always shipped products with compromises. There was a time when iPhone didn’t have copy and paste, multitasking, widgets, USB-C, high refresh rate displays. People still bought iPhones because they valued the overall experience.

This new device is no different. If the compromises aren’t worth it to you, that’s completely fair. But that doesn’t make it a bad product. It just means you’re not the target customer. Not every Apple product has to be for everyone.

This is good news. This gives a 99% chance that iPhone Air 2 (which is thicker than the foldable) vapor chamber cooling will likely happen, in the Spring of 2027.
The Camera Control on the foldable will double as Action Button. It will feature heavily.
No FaceID and MagSafe are understandable, given the foldable’s thinness. Lack of telephoto lens, on the other hand, is a dealbreaker for me.
It’s still exciting, though!
Apple could’ve given the Air a vapor chamber, but they had to save it for the second generation.

"Which is thicker than the foldable"

Do you mean when the foldable is folded or unfolded? Because if you mean folded, that just means that apple made a pretty darn thin foldable iPad in my opinion!

You are assuming it has induction charging coil...

Me still trying to process the 2020's.

okay, so honestly I’d probably love having one, but if it’s $2000…I REALLY like faceID and MagSafe, that alone would probably stop me. I don’t trust the reliability much and I already don’t have the best luck with these things.

And like…having a phone that’s almost iPad sized (assuming it can multitask as well) and smaller too is awesome, EXCEPT an iPad mini and a regular iPhone combined are cheaper and largely better.

Sigh. Sort of don’t know if this is actually possible to make the way Apple would want.
