Foldable 'iPhone Ultra' Still Likely to Be Missing These Five Features

Face ID and maybe the lack of telephoto lens. They others aren’t important. Actually I could problably forego the Tele lens. But no Face ID?

Never buy a first gen Apple product. Heck, given that the 2nd gen is already probably nearly set and has zero consumer feedback, skip the second gen, too (if you can and if money is tight).

Im assuming this will not be an appreciated gen of the iPhone Ultra/Duo. Planning on getting it at or around same time as iPhone 20. No face ID means itll be something to use at home. Won't need neither iPhone nor iPad Mini with an Ultra. I'll just wait till the price drops on it. Because of its intended place in my ecosystem it's not really a FOMO for me, but something to watch out for a decent discounted price.

The 100 year flood will def impact prices but I don't expect this to be appreciated enough for it to maintain a multi thousand price, I'd do $1200-$1500 though. If it's around that price when iPhone 20 release I'll get it then.

If even most of this is true, I’ll be stunned if it gets the “Ultra” name. I get it’s just a name, but how can it be “Ultra” while missing pretty standard features for most phones.

I really want to like and talk myself into this foldable but if we’re missing battery life, action button, a telephoto lens, Face ID, mmWave 5G, MagSafe, 120hz on the outer display, and it has a crease - that’s a tough sell for 1.5x the price

The lack of an action button is a dealbreaker by itself for me. I don't see why the "best" iPhone that costs $2k+ can't have it.

Iirc, no one guessed the MacBook Neo’s name before it dropped, so I wouldn’t be surprised if all the rumored names (Duo/Fold/Ultra) are all wrong. Fold is too close to Samsung, Duo too close to Microsoft and Ultra just doesn’t seem to fit this phone - hell if anything that would be the 20th anniversary model or something.

I’m guessing we get an unexpected name next Wednesday

So a worse iPhone and a worse iPad, both in one. Lots of compromises on an ultra expensive device. Toaster-fridge.

Worse and more expensive than just buying those. I want one device to do it all, but it must be insanely great.

But if this device were to come heavy with MacOS…. It would be a quick buy with zero regret whatsoever.

To justify (or understand) the price, to me Apple will calculate it thusly:
- The iPad Mini price $599 +
- iPhone 17PM 1Tb price $1599 +
- Apple fold/function design premium $150 (merging form of the Mini & 17PM with a fold) +
- Making it thin using price premium from the iPhone Air thin design (vapor chamber, “thin camera hump”, 2 Air batteries I am guessing, thin form factor, etc.) $150 +
- $2 for Apple packaging

TOTAL = $2500
2TB version = $3000

Still cannot stand that degree of asymmetry. Like if you look closely the Fold 8 is ever so slightly asymmetric. But you have to really look to see it. This thing is...yeah.

The new Siri is actually sick. It can pull up answers to the most obscure things and is right 99% of the time.

Yes “Ultra” is a very poor choice of names.

Especially since it’s already being used by Samsung.

With massive resources and plenty of creative minds, it’s incredibly stupid to use the unimaginative Ultra moniker.
