Just out of curiosity: How would it be possible to protect a Smartphone (and a foldable one, i.e. a device with big moving parts and able to change its size at the will of the user) from dust, without completely destroying everyday usability?
I don't know. But Samsung has already said they are working hard at it and it is inevitable that dust protection is coming to foldables. Just a matter of when.

I had a foldable bicycle once. Great little thing but you have to remember to tighten that little lever in the middle after you unfold it and before you ride it or you can cause irreparable damage to your two best friends. Don’t ask but it was close!!

Would love to see it, but ain't getting it.

I'm good with fixed-screen devices.

Now bring that SPECTACULAR iPad Pro OLED to iPhone, Apple.

And I was OK with not getting an iPad at the time because it was just a big iPhone.

LOL how people will never, ever get something...until they do.

Ah yes, based on the past decade off the top of my head it's clear we're all still using Intel Macs, phones and iPads with a home button and huge bezels, the Apple watch never took off, neither did the pencil, and airpods are a complete flop

If you’re happy with cosmetic changes and new accessories in over a decade you’re clearly easily satisfied.

The tv and car projects failed miserably. Siri is still garbage. AirPower doa. Tim talked so much about Aug reality but Vision Pro ended up too expensive and too few use cases. But most importantly, Ai is lagging.

Apple Silicon is a cosmetic change?

Of course not but the credit belonged to Steve not Tim. Under him Apple became a huge financial success and little else. Services revenue is a great example of that. Apple went into an established space (e.g., music and tv) late. Leveraged its installed base and ecosystem and became somewhat successful. But its not on the same level of innovation as iTunes was.

Those huge screens on the Note 3 are too big! I’m happy with my iPhone 4. What, 4K video recording on the Note 3 is just a gimmick just like the 3gigs of ram, that’s what I have on my PC running XP!. Actually nobody needs more than 64mb of ram - some rich CEO told me so…

So Samsung are pushing foldables and the same thing all over again… Until Apple makes one and then it’s: A Revolution!

I went from the iPhone 4 to the Note 3 because it was a superior phone at the time. I’d show them how the bigger screen was better and they would defend the smaller screen saying they preferred it. People didn’t belive me when I told them it had 3gigs of ram (iPhones had like 512mbs at the time - I think).

Anyway - this has happened before and this will happen again…

I honestly can't think of a single use case where I'd need my phone to fold out into a bigger screen device. I have an iPad for browsing at home and on the move I don't need an iPad size device. Feels a bit like a niche market to me like the iPhone Mini, which is fine as it offers choice.

The iphone mini wasnt a niche, just the idiots buying big ones were a tad too many

Who really wants this? If it sells as poorly as the iPhone Minis, it'll be pulled pretty quickly.

why are people buying large phones idiots exactly?

Android pushed screen size up and up. Apple followed because most people like it.
And make a smaller one as well.

The Mini just didnt read the room at the time of release.
Even though people were demanding it a year or two before.
There might be a few people who would still like a 4" phone.
But not enough to make it worthwhile creating.

Jobs died in 2011, 9 years before the AS transition...

"Wow, you’re content with new accessories? That's not important!"

"AirPower never came out! Apple is dooooooomed!"

I don't own any of these. The last Mac that was usable for me was an Intel one. My phone is the 2022 SE. Absolutely none of these products have a wow factor.
Why isnt an M* Mac “usable” for you?

Gotta tell you, AS macs definitely had and have a wow factor for me, they run fast and cool and let me get my work done. I use my watch all the time, and tap to get into the subway or pay with it still feels kinda magical, my airpod pros are awesome, and moving from an iphone 8 to a 13 mini was great - larger screen in a slightly smaller package. Losing the home button and chin easily made up for losing touchid (though I do hope itll come back under the screen some day)

Temporal dithering (or something else I am not aware of) causes eye pain, dry eyes, watering eyes, headaches. To me it looks like the edges of letters are moving even on a stationary screen. There is to an app called Stillcolor which is supposed to fix it but I haven’t yet tried it.

This. Also I can't think of a single use case where I'd need a car to travel places, my work is only a few miles away and I can bike or walk. Please extrapolate my use case scenario to the rest of the world.
