What AI are you going to be doing on your phone? I guess it depends upon how you view this product. Is your primary "laptop" a 16 GB iPad Pro and you intend for this to replace it? Or do you want it to replace your aging 14 Pro Max?
I didn't mean myself, per se. I meant for folks in general moving forward. We don't yet know what Apple Intelligence is capable of.

And yes, I need to replace that heavy old beast!

Yeah, it was a hypothetical "you". Anyhow, what I meant is that it depends upon how heavy are those AI aspirations going to be. 8 GB is OK for basic iPhone AI right now, and 12 GB should last a while. And then after a few years people will upgrade anyway. I suspect a Fold in a few years will be 16 GB.

However, those with heavier needs may need more RAM, and sometimes a LOT more RAM that none of the iPhones will have.

Is anybody else not bothered by folding phones at all or just me?
The question should have been why anyone been bothered or not bothered by the existence of folding phone at all. Folding phone is just another cellphone product form and a new iPhone form for Apple. It will give a choice for people who like the form.

I am waiting patiently to see all the people that regret buying this $2000 dollar gimmick.

Why would anybody regret it? People who buy Foldables do so for a reason. They want to do more from their device instead of looking at a small screen for most of their usage

this mean no dual boot, no ipadOS as for inner display
They’re literally the same OS with very slightly different UIs… the difference is more a marketing term than anything else… one assumes the inner display will expose more iPad UI components. You dont need to “dual boot”

Apple will definitely have multiple suppliers. But looks like component prices will be high and that will be passed onto the customers. Waiting to see the foldable.
