EDIT; I have just realised this has happened to all of the items that we're on my desktop, about a week ago I made a folder to dump all my stuff off the desktop into. They have all turned into alias files. the date modified matches the day i made the folder and put them in so what could it be?
    Ideas?

I posted this elsewhere but its receiving no responses and I don't know how to move a thread as I rarely use this site so here goes.

Does anyone know why my finder window looks like this? obviously it doesn't have those blurred items but I have only done that on the screen shot to keep some details private.

I have also only just noticed that for whatever reason some of my folders from my last couple of uni projects have turned into alias folders (which I had no clue was even a thing until now) but don't have my original folders linked to them, so what could possibly have happened? I do really need the work from them so that I can send it off to people I may be working with in the near future. Is this a bug? I really don't remember messing around with them.

You've tried finding "BA8", or whatever its original item was called, with Spotlight?

EasyFind might be able to help you out here.

Yeah, just shows the folder as an alias and no original folder can be found
