My philosophy is that it all evens out - from what I've heard from the Stanford folks, they manage the WUs to best suit the processor. You'll finish the little WUs quicker for less points and the large ones take longer for more points.

Actually right now I have an *ss kicking headache! That's what I've got!

The protien is p874_p53dimer8 and I'm at 85 %.

So do you get more credit for harder work? I guess I need to go back to their web site and find some faq's.

edit: did probe around and saw this one isn't due till march 28th! So I guess I'm doing ok. Am using a 12" pb 1.33.

It's worth 155 points. I finished one on my 15.2 inch 1.33 GHz PB after several days.

well I'm at 1% per hour on the 12" and adding my emac tonight after the wife gets home.

I have a dell x300 that the office is rebuilding (only had it 3 months) should get it tomorrow, will add it to for kicks.

Then I'll be folding on my 12" and then while I'm doing that, I'll fold on the emac, while I'm folding on my 12 and emac I'm gong to add the dell, yyeeehhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Interesting, at best, it was taking 42 minutes per percent on the PowerBook 1.33 and 68 minutes on a single processor of the dual G4/800 for the p874.

Would be nice to see more production since we're about to slip a notch.

well I'll time the next 2 percent to see, the 1% has been an avg for the last 4 days, much of that. The actual avg has been 1hr 8 min. I just turned sleep off yesterday, so that was a big bog down, I adjusted by just sleeping the screen and harddrive.

I will time my next 2 %.

I got 78 minutes when the processor was set to Automatic performance. Also, I've got 768 MB in the machine and the work unit could probably use more.

I have highest performance and 768mb too. I just went over 89% at around 7:02 eastern, so let's see for the next 1 %.

should I set my emac for little wu? It sits 20hrs a day, kids use it max of 4 hrs a day. It is a 1.25 ghz with 512m ram.

I would say that you should not set the eMac to only do small work units, unless you want to see a lot of work units finish. I think the average points per day will turn out to be about the same, regardless. If you're impatient, though, it might be a good idea. ;)

I am windows illiterate, so when the dell comes home tomorrow I will do my best at loading FAH and let it ride. It has xp pro and extra ram, can set up in the basement to fold days on end. Just want to know how to properly load it.

I'm new to this folding thing.
Just read a bit about it, but is there anyone that recommend not to use it on a primary machine... Heard a lot that people use their old pc's/mac for folding.

By folding you help in the research for protein's does it do anything else

Yes, it's exactly what we mean with folding. Some machines could better be left alone for my opinion, if you leave them on 24/7. Like old computers with not a lot of mhz, or if you would really want to pay a lot extra to your power company, go ahead, but you won't get a lot of points/work done from an old computer. Furthermore, you shouldn't let laptops fold 24/7, without a coolingpad. But give it a try for a couple of weeks and become an active member. You'll probably love it while you overtake others and see your stats get better and better. Owh and it's good for humanity too! ;)

Thanks for that, but I only have one computer for the moment
Well maby I will try but I'll see thanks ;)

I too have only one computer folding, and look where it gotten me! I'm in the top 40 of our team. I have to say that it's a dual G5 :D

But it really doesn't matter what speed your computer is, if you wanna fold, then fold! If you have your computer turned on, you won't notice that it's there, it uses the idle processor power. It doesn't influences other programs. Everything helps. If you leave your computer on 24/7, only for folding (like me), then it's better not to do this with a slow one or a laptop without a coolingpad.
