After the download... attempted to download Play Store system update (currently on June), but it kept failing. Guess I'll come back to that later.

Are you gonna run the Fold 6 beta? I read OneUI 8 beta 4 broke S Pen on S25 Ultra. Hoping Fold 6 gets the stable version by end of September.

Well, I was planning on running it lol. But you making me nervous with this broke S-Pen support news... wasn't aware of that.

I was on the One UI 7 beta when it was released... which ran smoothly. I'm crossing my fingers Samsung add Side-by-Side editing, next week we find out. And based on One UI 7 beta schedule (released in March)... Samsung ran the program for a month then released the official version (in April), most likely could be by end of September.

Looks like the 512GB is back down to $902 after trade-in. Not as good as the second week of pre-order, but actually still better than the first 3-4 days of pre-order where it initially was $995.

Pre-orders set a new record, but starting to also read about a lot of returns as the try-out period expires for many folks. If ordering today, I can get a 512GB or 1TB by Aug. 8th. But I'm not doing that...at least not at current prices.

When the Pixel drops this month or even around the iPhone launch in September (or October)... that's when we will see some crazy discounts.

But as days go on... it's a long shot on whether I buy it, reluctant to give up on the S-Pen. And if Side-by-Side editing comes to the ZF6... that will certainly make me stay put.

For those of you that have used a Pixel a lot how do the AI features compare to Samsung? Basically Pixel 10 versus Fold 7. I briefly had the original Pixel Fold and returned it for a Fold 5 and at that time I felt the Samsung software was better but I know things have changed since then for both companies.

Finally here…

Edit. And Samsung added the new Side by Side Photo Assist for Galaxy AI... Like the new changes to the Gallery app, Files app.... Google Play Store app moved the bottom navigation bar to the side for tablet optimization. Initial impression of One UI 8 are good!

Thrilled that Fold 6, Flip 6 and S24 series get Now Brief... but Samsung has ruined widgets, I don't like this update one bit.

I'm trying to decide if I need to do my setup all over because the widgets are comically huge now.

How big ? I don't have many but they seem ok

Honestly the Huawei Mate XT is simply the best foldable I have ever had. It is literally a laptop, tablet and phone all in one, and so unbelievably thin! Instant daily driver.

Interesting but a rather high estimate. I think price is still a barrier, even for typical iPhone users. My family already gets side-benefits from me carrying a Fold6 without them having to jump ship from Apple. If people can wait 2-3 years now between iPhone upgrades then they can wait another year for the iFold.

That's not to say the Fold7 and Pixel Fold aren't great options, but I dont see Apple losing 30% of their base this year. What's gonna happen next year then? You will see that same 30% exodus return to the Apple fold, no pun intended. The claim is a little ludicrous.

That article is all over the place. It claims that nearly 70% are planning on upgrading to a new iPhone 17 model and over 72% are more satisfied with their iPhone than they have been in past years. The very next paragraph states 69% of those surveyed ‘say that the high price of the iPhone 17 line is the biggest barrier stopping them from buying a new phone during the upcoming launch’ and ‘5% say that they are considering a switch to Android.’

So how then are more than 30% threatening to move to a Samsung or Pixel foldable? Every iPhone buy is either planning on getting a new iPhone or switching to an Android foldable? (69% are upgrading and 30% are switching, according to this survey) Not a single iPhone owner is just going to keep their iPhone? And if earlier 5% said they were considering switching to Android, how is it now 30%? And the biggest barrier to upgrading is price yet 30% are now going to pay significantly more for a folding phone?

I have no doubt that there are a portion of iPhone users unhappy with the current state of affairs but this article contradicts itself throughout.

Well, the text on Samsung battery widget and device care are no longer visible at the current size. I have to enlarge it to get it where I had it previously... here's an example of what I mean.

Notice the changes… and this is what I did to help fix what Samsung did to my setup.

Gotcha , I'm still getting KWGT Enlarged and shrinks on occasion issue. Hopefully all this gets sorted

I've been interested in the cool factor for a long time and finally just went and got myself an Oppo Find N5.

It's extremely cool in many ways, better than my iPhone in many ways, I think if I can start over now in terms of ecosystem I could very well pick the Android foldable.

However I don't feel there's an overwhelming advantage to go either way.

The biggest advantage for the Android is obviously the screen size and then it's the telephoto camera being a much much more usable 70mm with macro. I could just bring an iPad Mini which is much cheaper than the Oppo device, and I have all kinds of real cameras so if there's something I really have to shoot I don't have to rely on any phone to do it.

There's no way that 30% of iPhone users would switch to folding phones. From my experience, the overwhelming majority of iPhone users have no clue that such phones even exist.

I've been using Samsung Z Folds since they first came out, and it's humorous to see the double takes and envy, when an iPhone user sees one flip open for the first time in their lives. To me it's just natural to do so.

Even had a couple of college girls ask if I was magic when I opened it, simply to more easily show them a ticket site. "Are you a magician!? One second you were holding a regular size phone, and then I blinked and you were holding a tablet!!"
