On 10.10 Yosemite, the Monitor I use (a 29inch 2560*1080 ultra wide display) looks fuzzy because the monitor is recognized as [TV Mode].
But I can solve this by replacing a file in Overrides folder (to do this you need to type
    cd Downloads
    ruby patch-edid.rb
    in Terminal.app)
then replace the folder just downloaded with the original one.

However on 10.11 El Capitan, this method no longer works. The monitor is in TV mode and everything looks weird.

    Anyone please?

have a look at the system pref.. Then click on Monitors/Displays... Then select which resolution you want... If you choose a smaller maybe that goes away...

What cable do you use to connect? I am using Mini display - HDMI cable, for 2560*1080 resolution under Yosemite, it is clear. I did not do anything special.

BTW, how can you make your machine display 2560*1080 under El Capitan? using any software?
