Fonts terrible in Word but not Pages

Can anyone tell me why my fonts are jagged in MS Word but not in Pages? It's very annoying. I'm using a BenQ 4k display at its native resolution on Mojave.

My guess is because Apple cares and MS doesn’t. Probably when you export to PDF it will look better.

Do you use scaling? If so then it's probably poor scaling implementation.

Fonts seem ok in other apps. It appears to be MS Word only (16.33, current version).
