Been waiting for a couple of these to hit the app store. These all include on demand and live streaming, but of course requires a cable/satellite subscription.

I noticed that as well. Keep them coming! Unlike others, I am not concerned about the Cable/Satellite Subscription if I was able to have a single login. I do not have a problem with paying a reasonable amount for content. My problem has always been with the required hardwire cost and the "Video Tax, Phone Tax, Regional Sports Tax". I recently returned all of my STB's and simply using Apple TV 4 on all of my TV's. So saving on the hardware is nice. Just need more and more Apps to access the content. Also, really need more commercial free options like Hulu, Netflix etc....

So you still have Cable/Satellite subscription without any STB's?

Yes. I use 2x HDHomeRun Prime Network Turners (3 Turners each) with Cable Cards. This gives me all but DRM Channels. For Verizon FIOS that only drops FOX News, FOX Business and FOX Sports. Also, excludes HBO and other Premium Channels which I have replaced with HBO Now and Showtime etc. For Live TV on the Apple TV 4's I use the Channels App (very nice app). I used to record a lot of shows now most I get via Hulu (no commercial option) and also CBS All Access but has limit commercials. Regarding DVR. I use the HDHomeRun DVR which is in beta. For the DVR I currently have to schedule the records on my Mac and then I can watch them on the Apple TV's with multiple Apps. I expect the DVR experience to get much better once out of beta. Now all TV's have the exact same UI with only 1 remote and no HDMI Switching. I love it. I also have the option for all of the Apps that are now on the Apple TV but require a Cable Subscription (which I have) but I don't use them a lot. Of course most of the content is also on my iPad.

I also noticed this and have been using them the past few days, they all work very well.

I noticed that these apps are made by the same company that makes the Bravo NOW app, any idea when that will come to Apple TV?

I have not signed on some of these. Is any of the On Demand Commercial Free. Some shows via STB On Demand are Commercial Free. If not Commercial Free can you FF?

Hi Mike,

I have noticed some show have commercials and some don't. For example House Hunters plays without any commercials.

Another show my wife watches is Flip or Flop and that does have commercials and you can't fast forward those.

I downloaded all three apps, only to find that Xfinity/Comcast customers were left out. So for now, these apps are useless. Yet another reason why I can't stand Comcast.

They are not useless. Also a Comcast customer and can access all 3 apps - you just need to manually enter the authentication URL using the provided activation code. This is also covered in the Xfinity forums.

Requestor ID Domain Name

HGTV watch.hgvt.com
FoodNetwork watch.foodnetwork.com
TravelChannel watch.travelchannel.com

The URL to use for HGTV is :

https://api.auth.adobe.com/api/v1/authenticate?reg_code=<ACTIVATION-CODE>&noflash=true&mso_id=Comcast_SSO&requestor_id=HGTV&domain_name=watch.hgtv.com&redirect_url=http://watch.hgtv.com/activate?device=appletv

Awesome. I'll try this when I get home tonight.

Actually this is not entirely accurate. I just bought the Apple TV 4 and several full episodes on the food network app are free

They must be select episodes. Each time I would try to play a random episode (ie. Diners, Drive In's, and Dives), it would prompt me to connect the the app to my cable provider.

If it helps, look for the very small key icon on the video thumbnail. Those are episodes requiring TV provider. I have to admit, at first I missed this clue. The key icon is so small.

And what happens when you are watching your various TV shows using 10 different apps... how do you know when a new show airs, and how do you easily access those shows without knowing what network it was on and knowing which app to go to? Fundamental flaw in Apple TV experience - using Apple TV is not how people use TV.

The same thing that happens when you are watching your shows using 10 different channels.
how do you know when a new show airs,
You use the one of two indicators depending on app:
"New Shows Available" or "Latest Episodes"
and how do you easily access those shows without knowing what network it was on and knowing which app to go to?
If you know about the show, why wouldn't you know about the network?
And even if you didn't know the network it is easy enough to look up.

If you want to watch Game Of Thrones, you go to HBO, or you want to watch Homeland you open the Showtime app, etc.

Question makes no sesne.

There is a fundamental flaw here, but not where you think it is.

Apple's vision for this is Siri search. However they have not yet opened the search API for apps, so not all app content can be indexed YET. Hang in there. It's coming, in theory.

Charter needs to quit being a bastqrd as I cannot get most of these apps to work. Stinks as I have to consistently go back and forth between android tv Apple TV and my smart tv

I am having issues with both Food Network and HGTV apps, I signed into both but cannot live stream or play any episodes. No error is given when the select or play button is pressed just nothing happens? Other apps are working fine, ie Netflix, iTunes movies.

It might be the apps themselves. I've experienced the same issue with both apps, in addition to the Travel Channel app. All three apps are great when I want to watch a specific show, but when it comes to watching "live TV" it has issues streaming.
