Peanut butter.

I dont hate it. Ill eat it if its the only thing left. Dont care for it with jelly on bread, it sticks to the roof of my mouth. Cant stand it with chocolate or in any dessert. Ruins the whole experience. I dont like nuts in candy or with chocolate either. I have tried it in smooth, crunchy, natural. Just no.

I was wondering what everyone here thinks of coconut? I havent seen it mentioned here yet, but where i am it seems to be very polarizing. People either hate it or love it. Its my dads favorite food, but i have heard some people say they would rather eat dirt. I like it though, especially in a spread or dessert.

Love coconut. Hate coconut water though. I haven't been able to get past the texture and overall taste. But raw coconut or coconut you find on pastries. Yum!
 
Kale seems to be everywhere lately. I cannot stand it. Then again, the quote "vegetables are the food that my food eats" pretty much sums up what I think of them veggies :D

Fish is pretty popular too, but I've never had a piece of fish that I liked so much that I'd want to eat it again (unless fish & chips count, but I guess not).

I'd have to be quite drunk to try an oyster. Or try caviar again. Or squid.

Fish and Chips count! Deep fried fish is usually always good! :D

Steam it (never boil) briefly on a high heat with nothing more than a slice of butter (and perhaps diced fresh garlic) plus the few drops from the water you have rinsed it in clinging to its leaves. That should give you decent and tasty kale.

I suspect that anything with butter will be quite tasty. But from a health standpoint, I think you're ruining the point of eating a particular food if butter has to be added for that food to be tasty. So why bother at all with that particular food? :D

Popcorn is vile. Even the smell.

But crisps (or potato chips as you guys call them), are also my Achilles heel.
Especially those you can enjoy with a dip.

Mind you I've not had any since 2015! I have the occasional pack of twiglets.

A pat of butter on your kale won’t kill you nor suddenly turn it unhealthy. If you’re eating kale only because you think it’s healthy then you’re doing it wrong. Healthy eating is balanced eating.

Disgusting.
Cooked, fried, boiled however, they're delicious
C'mon .... there's nothing better than a pulling a big tomato off the vine , rinsing and slicing it and eating the slices with a bit of salt . Even better is to augment it with some fresh mozzarella , basil out of the garden ( diced over the mozz.)and maybe just a dash of good balsamic vinegar . A sure sign of summer around where I live .

That is the point. You want food to be tasty, you have to want to eat it.

Anyway, health requirements do not dictate or determine how I eat; it has to be tasty, - even if it is healthy - and butter and olive oil go some way to achieving that - otherwise it is food as punishment, and I don't do food as punishment.

Spinach gets the same treatment as kale, swift steaming with butter and garlic, and can be served with anything.

Lettuce gets French dressing, lots of olive oil, cider vinegar, salt, freshly ground pepper, a dash of sugar, mustard, sometimes garlic....

Oh, back to the thread title: I loathe milk chocolate.

Now that sounds tasty for spinach, will have to try that. I suppose I could try kale that way too, after all I try to be open minded.

On the other other hand, I don't know if I can take anyone who hates chocolate milk seriously :p

Edit: though I think that milk itself might not be as good depending on where you're from. I've never tasted English milk, but regular old American milk is absolutely vile. While I lived in NYC, I had to get the bio varieties of milk to get anything decent - at more than twice the price. Regular milk in my province is much better than the best milk I've tasted in the US.

And then again, 'better' is such a relative term.

No, dark chocolate for me, if any. And only dark.

Preferably at least 70% cocoa.

Oh that reminds me, as a kid we loved smarties. Small circular candy disks filled with poor quality milk chocolate not unlike M&Ms. I confess: I tried a Nestle Swiss milk chocolate bar with embedded smarties - I felt sick. In my defence I was 20 years younger.

Now I do like on occasion milk chocolate but prefer the dark stuff anytime.

I'm actually with you on dislike of milk, some experience on a dairy farm notwithstanding. Well I wasn't averse in the old days of sneaking into the milkhouse ...before refrigerated tanks were the thing... to scoop off a few cups of heavy cream for making ice cream with during summer heat waves like this one we got going right now in the northeast.

As an adult, I don't drink milk but use nonfat milk on cereals and in most cooking. For some reason the only way I really like milk otherwise is in a 20oz latte mug, 1/3 full of strong coffee, 2/3 hot skim milk.

So many people don't realize the difference in taste between your stock grocery tomato and farm stand or home grown. ;)

To each his own... I've been known to sit down in a garden walkway and pull a fat tomato off the vine and have at it as if I were a creature got under the fence. My great great aunt used to put sugar on raw tomatoes. That I did find disgusting. To me it's more like salt, olive oil, vinegar, some basil...

Agreed. Anyway you cook tomatoes they're pretty healthful too. I used to grow and can them, usually whole or crushed, by the gazillion bushels every year until commercial canneries discovered that people like me would buy canned diced no-salt-added tomatoes in 28oz containers. I always bought tomato paste as a commercial product, but seeing the diced stuff on the shelf made me go full on lazy in the gaarden almost instantly.

These days I grow a few plants meant for fresh harvest. I don't mind if an early frost comes and I end up bringing them all in ahead of that rather than playing the cover-against-frost game for weeks, as one may have to do with a big harvest meant for canning. Now I just make fried green tomatoes from some of them, wrap the rest in newspaper and stick them in a box in the corner of the kitchen to finish ripening.

Agree completely; a tomato that has met sunshine in the course of its life, and has been grown by the individual you have bought it from. (Or given as a gift by the person who grew it).

A drizzle of olive oil, some sea salt, maybe chopped chives, certainly shredded basil leaves, a dash of good balsamic vinegar on such a tomato (or tomatoes) and served with some French bread. Yum.

Nice, but sun dried tomatoes are even better imo.
