Hate to appear dumber than I am, so will blame it on old age now.

Have used Google Photos from my iPhone, and have created several Albums in it.
    Really a nice App.

Having trouble, though, figuring out how to use it with my iMac.

I downloaded "Backup and Sync" from Google, and apparently have it on my Desktop now.
    Also, in the APP Folder.

    So, now what ?

Specifically, how do I select either a few pix's, and get them
into an Album already created in Google Photos, please ?

And, how about doing the same for a large Folder full of pictures, all in one step ?

Specific steps would be most appreciated.

    Much thanks,

You use Backup and Sync is for putting your photos into Google, or keeping files in sync.

You make albums like you did on the iPhone, and add photos to each album.

Once upon a time there was Picasa that managed photos and then put them online, but they have stopped supporting it. It currently still works (no Retina mode), but not for long. The next macOS 10.15 (October?) will officially end support for old apps.

As cruisin said you have to use the Google Photos website for your photo organization...reason is that the organizational database files are in the cloud.

With Google Backup and Sync you can add the photos folder but you can't do anything with albums etc. as it will just be a folder with all of your photos.
