For battery life, anyone use a battery pack (non-plus models)?

I have been back and forth on the plus, but just find it a bit too big in the wrong directions for me. So, I'm thinking of getting a used 7 and maybe add a battery case.

Anyone use battery case, and willing to share the good and the bad? I'm not sure how they work, frankly.
