For dual monitor support, can daisy chaining help?

I have a macbook pro 15" that I bought last year.

I currently have a samsung Syncmaster SA850 monitor that I use.
I want to have dual monitors and I am looking at the:

    Dell UltraSharp U2717D https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260410

If the monitor supports daisy chaining, does this mean I don't have to get a $300 hub to make dual monitors work?

    Thanks!

Sorry, Dell MST doesn't work with the 2017 MBP 15".

Daisy chaining HDMI/DisplayPort plainly is not supported in macOS, as far as I understand.
